• ISSUE FOUR: Family/Tree

    PITCH DEADLINE: 30 May, 2022
    COMMISSION CONFIRMATION: 24 June, 2022
    SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 01 August, 2022

The fourth issue of Wonderground explores questions of kinship, legacy, connection and trees. Always trees. Trees as symbols, metaphors and beings. Trees as language (do you know the word library originates from the Latin liber, meaning the inner bark of trees?). There is much in this topic that is beautiful and complicated and we are interested in exploring it all. Particularly the in-between places; the topics, subjects, people and ideas that are less expected and obvious, more surprising and enchanting. We want to be amazed, inspired, excited. We’re looking for intimacy and expansiveness. We want to feel things both heavy and light. And, goddam, we want/need to laugh.

The Wonderground editorial team are looking for engaging and original text based works that explore the issue theme within the context of landscape, ecology, gardening, design and culture.

Read more about Issue Four, and what we look for in submissions here, and submit your pitch via the form below.

Only submissions lodged via this online form will be considered for Wonderground Issue Four. Please do not pitch via email. Thank you.

  • Thank you for your interest in contributing to Wonderground and for making the effort to submit a pitch to us. We cannot wait to read it.
