  • ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE PLACEMENT TESTS

    (1) Locator Placement Test:  New Students Only

For first time or new students, Locator Placement Test information will be emailed to you once your registration form is processed.  The email will contain links for a Reading test and Math test.

These initial tests are completed online using any tech device, such as a computer, laptop, tablet or Smartphone, and completed at your convenience.

After your Locator tests have been submitted, a staff member will contact you by email, text or phone to schedule an appointment to take the MAPT online test.

Contact us if you do not receive an email with Locator testing information after five school days from submitting your registration form.  Check your spam/junk folders too. Our contact information is on our website.

  • (2) MAPT Testing: All Students

New students must complete the Locator tests first.

The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) requires us to administer the MAPT (Massachuseets Adult Proficiency Test) test to  ALL students enrolled in our program. Students are assessed 2 or 3 times a year.

DESE uses these tests to show students are learning in our programs, develop new curriculum program, and establish funding. Classes remain free to you because of DESE's funding and support.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

The MAPT tests are computer-based and given in Reading and/or Math. These are not pass or fail, but rather give us a baseline of what you know today.

The MAPT test is given by appointment only. You can choose to take it in-person or remotely from home.

If you choose to take it remotely, it will take place over Zoom. You must use a desktop computer, laptop, or tablet with a stable internet connection and camera.  You will not be allowed to take this test on a Smartphone. The software is not mobile friendly.

A staff member will email or text you to schedule an appointment after all your information has been processed and/or submitted. Morning and evening appointments will be available.

Appointment reminders will be sent out as your date approaches.

If you are a no show for your appointment, you will need to contact us to reschedule.

    Release of Information

     Dear Student:

The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) funds your adult education program, Abisi Adult Education Center, and almost 100 others like it. In order to continue to support these programs, DESE must report information about students, including student outcomes, to the federal government.

After students leave their program, DESE collects information about their outcomes by matching their personal information with Department of Unemployment Assistance employment data, with GED and HiSET high school equivalency (HSE) test results, and with National Student Clearing House and Department of Higher Education postsecondary enrollment records. DESE combines the data sets and reports them to the federal government.

If you sign this Release of Information form, DESE will also share your employment data, HSE test results, and postsecondary enrollment information with your program, Click or tap here to enter text., so it can understand how well it is helping students. DESE and your AE program will not disclose this confidential information under any other circumstances unless required to do so by law.

     Thank you.
