OCIA (for children) Two Year Program Description
When a child is over the age of 7 the church considers them to be an adult in the church. A child wishing to receive the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist) will be enrolled in this two year program regardless if they are a public school or Catholic school student. They will then receive these sacraments on Easter Vigil of their second year.
Public School Student Requirements:
Year 1 Attends Summer Program Faith Formation. (Registration opens on March 3 at hffdl.org.) Or the Home Based Program. Also, attends the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month (6:00-7:15pm) at Holy Family Church (271 Fourth Street Way) from October- March.
Year 2 Attends Summer Program Faith Formation or the Home Based Program. Also, attends the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at Holy Family Church (271 Fourth Street Way) from October- March and completes other Sacramental Preparation requirements on various weekends in Fall and Spring.
Catholic School Student Requirements:
Year 1 Actively participate in religion class at Catholic School and attends small group sessions October-March on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from 6:00-7:15pm Holy Family Church (271 Fourth Street Way).
Year 2 Actively participate in religion class at Catholic School, attend select pre-determined small group sessions, October-March on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from 6:00-7:15pm Holy Family Church (271 Fourth Street Way), and completes other Sacramental Preparation requirements on various weekends in Fall and Spring.
