I use a medical-grade, transparent, adhesive bandage called Second Skin. If you have known allergies to medical adhesives please let me know, there are other alternatives to this type of bandage we can use.
- The bandage can be kept on for 3 - 7 days and protects the healing tattoo from bacteria and debris.
- It is also waterproof, so you are able to take showers.
- Do not submerge your fresh tattoo in water of any kind - no baths or swimming.
- When removing your bandage, peel up an edge or corner and slowly pull the film off. Do not pull it straight up away from the skin.
- Gently wash the tattoo with clean water once the bandage is removed and use an unscented soap to clean the area.
- Allow the tattoo to air dry.
- Once dry, use an unscented moisturizer to keep the skin from drying out. This also helps with itching.
- Do not scratch, pick, or rub your tattoo during the healing process.
- Don't expose the healing tattoo to direct sunlight.
- Do not place sunscreen over your tattoo until it is healed.
- If going out in the sun, wear baggy, breathable clothes over the site.
Touch-ups are welcome and complimentary for the first 6 months after your tattoo. If you have not followed the aftercare advice (believe me, we can tell!) then the touch-up will incur a small set-up fee.
