Thank you for submitting a session proposal for MAAM's 2022 Annual Meeting!
Conference Theme:
ONWARD! What’s Next?
If 2020 and 2021 were about re-imaging the work of museums, 2022 is about taking what we learned, saw, and felt, and making lasting changes to our work in service of our visitors and our communities.
This year’s conference embraces the work in progress. Together we will consider what we learned in the past two years—what it means to be culturally responsive, how we define community, allocate resources, and decolonize and care for our collections. We found new ways to engage audiences and keep our institutions vibrant. Join the MAAM Annual Meeting for conversations, workshops, and roundtables about ideas and projects, including those that aren’t yet completely realized, and the risks, big and small, that museum professionals are taking to change the field.

All session proposals are due by
5:00pm EST on Friday, July 15, 2022

MAAM does not provide honorariums or travel reimbursement for session presenters or moderators, however there will be a
discounted registration rate
available. It is your responsibility to relate this policy to potential speakers within your panel.
Please note:
At this time, MAAM is planning for completely in-person gathering of museum professionals and industry colleagues. We will actively respond to national and local health and safety guidelines that might arise.
Although it is preferable to identify all panelists with this proposal, if you have yet to identify a specific panelist, please characterize what qualifications you are seeking in the "Panelist" and "Biography" section. For example: “director of a small rural art museum who has recently completed a capital campaign.” Please do not submit a session proposal with more than one of your panelist names missing. If your session is selected, you will need to confirm all panelists by August 15, 2022.
We plan to be as flexible as we can with proposals. If you need accommodations, let us know by emailing info@midatlanticmuseums.org.
Program Selection Process:
The MAAM Annual Meeting Program Committee consists of representatives from the MAAM board of directors, emerging museum professionals, MAAM members, and a representative from our local arrangements committee. The Program Committee will review session submissions during July 2022.
After developing the schedule for the conference, we will notify designated contacts for selected sessions before August 1, 2022. The Program Committee reserves the right to request modifications to the submitted programs.
Proposals will be evaluated on the strength of their 150 to 250-word abstract, the diversity of speakers and their experience, and relevance to the expected range of conference attendees. Please refer to the MAAM Website for further information to help you submit your proposal.
