Mini-Band Competition Rules and Regulations

Bands wishing to participate must arrive at Government House by
no later than 7:15pm
on Friday, July 26th, 2024.
Each band shall consist of a maximum of 7 players (minimum of 4 players required).
Each band must have at least one piper, and one snare drummer.
Each band can have any combination of pipers, snare, tenor, bass drummers, along with any other instruments (examples: guitar, djembe, etc.) but each band MUST have at least one piper, and one snare drummer.
Each band may have a maximum of one instrument connected to the AV equipment (via pickup or instrument microphone), and one vocal mic.
Example: a band may elect to have only 4 pipers, with one snare and a bass; another may elect to have 2 snares, 1 tenor, 1 bass, 1 piper, and a guitar. Any combination is possible so long as it includes one pipe and one snare.
Each band shall have a maximum of
5 minutes
to complete their set.
No dress uniforms are required.
The winning band shall be decided by applause level from the crowd.
$500 will paid to the winning band (cheque).
Selection of bands
A maximum of 5 mini-bands will be selected by the New Brunswick Highland Games Organizing Committee based on the submissions received.
Preference will be given to groups that the committee feels add variety and creativity to the contest.
