Brampton Library Makerspace Agreement & Waiver

All customers ages 14 and over must complete the waiver before accessing a Brampton Library Makerspace.

Those beween the ages of 14-17 must have a parent or legal guardian sign the waiver on their behalf.

Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver who has completed the waiver.

A Brampton Library card in good standing is required.

The waiver must be completed annually.

This waiver is available in an alternate paper format upon request. Please email makerspace@bramptonlibrary.ca or speak to staff in person.

The Makerspace is subject to the Library Use Guidelines – Code of Conduct and Internet Use (BRD-15), Library Membership and Use (BRD-22) and 3D Printing (BRD-29) policies. Consumables are provided free-of-charge on a limited basis. Library cardholders are limited to the following per week: 2 3D print jobs of 6 hours less; 2 vinyl cutting jobs of up to 12x24 inches of library-provided vinyl; 10 buttons. These limits are subject to change. Equipment must be used in the Makerspace and cannot be taken off-site. Makerspace computers are reserved for makerspace activities only and are not available for general computer use such as email, word processing, internet browsing, social media, etc. All files on Makerspace computers will be wiped clean after each session. Users are responsible for saving their own work to their own cloud or external storage device such as a USB. The library does not accept responsibility if a project is destroyed, does not print or cut correctly, does not work, or if any of the users’ personal equipment or materials are damaged while accessing any of the library’s makerspace equipment. The library's makerspace may be used only for lawful purposes. Users are not be permitted to create material that is: Prohibited by provincial or federal law; Unsafe, harmful, dangerous or poses an immediate threat to others; Obscene or otherwise inappropriate for the Library environment; In violation of another's intellectual property rights; Subject to copyright, patent or trademark protection. The user assumes responsibility for complying with applicable intellectual property laws. Items made in the makerspace that are not picked up within 14 days will become property of the Library.

Assumption of Risk: *

I understand and accept that there may involve certain risks, dangers and hazards in the use of the library makerspace. I freely accept and fully understand and assume all risks, dangers and hazards, and the possibility of personal injury, property damage or loss resulting therefrom.

Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims and Indemnity Agreement: *

I agree to release and hold harmless, Brampton Library and its officers, employees, volunteers, committees and boards, all claims or liability related to any accident that may arise as a result of my (or my child's) use of the makerspace.
