  • The City of Greater Geelong is proud to present a series of workshops, funded via the Victorian Government’s Regional Recovery Program. Free to attend, the five sessions will equip event organisers with the knowledge and skills they need to deliver safe and successful events in the Geelong region and to assist with recovery from the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.        

    If you're looking to:

    • enhance your event planning documents
    • understand the risks at your event and complete a thorough risk assessment
    • maximise your opportunities to receive grant funding
    • learn creative ways to market your event (on a budget)
    • develop your graphic design skills using Canva (a free to use online graphic design tool)

    Then these sessions are for you.

    Delivered in person, at GMHBA Stadium across three evenings from 5:45pm - 7:45pm on:

    Session 1: Event Planning – How to Make Your Event Better and Easier

    Presented by Rachella Thomas (Event Kit)

    You’ll learn:

    • Guiding principles for best practice event management
    • Key considerations when planning any type of event
    • How best to ensure your event is fully compliant and approved by Council
    • How to use event templates and resources to help minimise your stress

    Session 2: Creating Safe Events – What Does a Safe Event Look Like?

    You’ll learn:

    • Ways to use your risk assessment more effectively in your event planning
    • How to best plan for the unexpected and unplanned on event day 
    • How to fast-track the risk planning process so it gets easier each time

    • How to structure your grant application ensuring you address the grant specific guidelines (Leisure Networks)
    • How to build your supporting document framework (Leisure Networks)
    • How to maximise your opportunity for a successful application (Leisure Networks)

    Session 4: Boost Your Event Marketing with Canva 

    Presented by Mel Stewart (Hyper Social)

    Up your marketing game – to get more attendees at your next event – using Canva (a free to use online graphic design tool). 

    You’ll learn:

    • The basics of event branding
    • How to use Canva
    • Setting up your brand kit (logo, colours, fonts)
    • Choosing the right images
    • Using templates
    • Print-ready artwork

    Session 5: Three Low Cost Digital Marketing Strategies for your Event

    Presented by Mel Stewart (Hyper Social)

    In this energetic workshop you'll learn how to stretch your marketing dollars and maximise your time to get better results.
