    Appropriate Use of Information and Communication Technology Resources User Agreement
  • The signature of the student (and parent/guardian in the case of a minor) is mandatory before students will be allowed access to any WQSB technology- based resources. The form is required to be signed prior to the student starting at the Centre. A user agreement document will be provided upon your start, which will need to be signed. If you are under 18 year of age, a parent or guardian will also be required to sign the technology user agreement form before you begin.

    As a user of the Western Quebec School Board’s technology, software, networks I hereby agree to comply with the WQSB Appropriate Use of Information and Communication Technology Resources Policy.

    Publication Consent Form
  • The Western Quebec School Board, Adult Education and Vocational Training is proud to publicize the accomplishments of our students and staff in newsletters, on the walls of our institutions, in our publicity, in regional papers, on our web site or our Facebook page.

    The diffusion of names, student work, photos and videos cannot be done without your authorization in respect of the access of information law for Public Organization and the protection of personal information under the Quebec Civil Code. We would therefore ask that you fill in the form below.

  • SECTION 5

    WQSB DISTANCE EDUCATION Code of Ethics and Conduct
    1. Every person has the right to be treated with respect; therefore, every person has the responsibility to treat others with respect.
    2. Students have the responsibility to complete all checklist assignments (including additional assignments if given). Teachers have the responsibility to give thorough feedback on these assignments within 7 Day of an assignment being submitted.
    3. Students have the right to teachers who take responsibility to be prepared for meetings with their students and engaged in their subject. Likewise, students have the responsibility to be on time and prepared for scheduled meetings, engaged in their work, and are expected to work to their potential. Meetings will be capped at 30 minutes. A student is entitled to up to 10 meetings per course. (30 mins and 10 meetings is subject to change as WQSB Distance Education matures).
    4. Students may use software/network provided by the school board for schoolwork. They may only store school-related work on the school’s server. Any inappropriate use of the software/network provided could result in the loss of computer privileges, and consequently, as this is distance education, the student will be unregistered from Distance Education.     5. Students who are absent from a scheduled meeting without contacting us or their teacher to justify their absence run the risk of being removed from Distance Education.
    6. When on school grounds students who are in violation of the Drugs and Alcohol policy of the Western Quebec School board risk being denied service (for example not being able to take an exam). (See Policy on Drug Free Atmosphere in our Schools and Related Activities).
    7. There is no smoking or vaping on school property. Students are asked to smoke off school property and to place their cigarettes in the appropriate receptacles, not on the ground.

  • SECTION 6

    Drug and Alcohol Policy (for online correspondence and in-person evaluation purposes)
  • High standards of professionalism are expected from all students and staff at Western Quebec Adult and Vocational Education Centres. Everyone should arrive at the Centre fully prepared, and in the right frame of mind to learn and facilitate learning.

    A student may be suspended for up to 3 months for a first offence of the following:

    1. In possession of drugs or alcohol

    2. Promoting the use of, or trafficking drugs or alcohol

    3. Observed or reported to be using drugs or alcohol on school property

    If a student wishes to return to the Centre after a suspension for the above offences, they will be required to submit a written request for a meeting with the Centre Director. The student will also be required to meet with our Drug and Alcohol Counsellor after their return.

    A student may also be asked by the Centre Director (or designate) to leave school for a period of time should they be suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol. All efforts will be taken by staff and administration to confidentially assist students with dependence issues who request support.

    The following is an excerpt from the Western Quebec School Board Drug and Alcohol Policy:

    1. Any students registered in Adult Education found trafficking, under the influence of, or in possession of alcohol and/or illegal drugs will be immediately expelled from school.

    2. The school administration will confiscate alcohol/or illegal drugs.

    3. Where appropriate, the police will be notified, the student will be identified to them and the police will be given the confiscated goods.

    Notwithstanding the above, this Board makes every effort to cooperate with and enlist the support of the Health & Social Services rehabilitation programs and other related community-based organizations designed specifically to address the needs of students who have a recognized drug and alcohol problem and through curriculum-based projects educates its students on the responsibility to self and society.

    Furthermore, the Principals of the schools shall continue to take whatever measures they deem appropriate to keep our school alcohol and drug-free, and they shall publicize this statement of the Board’s intentions.

    Exam Procedures Acknowledgement
  • Some in person exams are required to be filmed for the purposes of transparency and Provincial requirements. The filmed exam/lab will be stored and then destroyed after 3 years as required by the Ministry of Education.
