The great American landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted was born in 1822 and to commemorate the 200th anniversary of his birth, let's take a virtual tour of four major Olmsted creations in New York City: Central Park, Prospect Park, Riverside Park (and Drive), and Morningside Park. Along the way, we'll talk about Olmsted's transformation from a journalist to a landscape designer and urban thinker, his partnerships--most crucially with Calvert Vaux--his work outside the city and his later life.
