Petition calling on the NSW Minister for Transport to install a 40km school zone, school zone flashing lights and traffic calming measures at Campbell Street crossing
To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of New South Wales.
This petition of the residents and visitors of St Peters, brings to the attention of the House:
-
A new pedestrian crossing was built on Campbell Street as part of the Westconnex project
-
Evidence is available that the crossing is unsafe, that there are frequent instances of cars running the red lights at the crossing
-
There are no red light cameras or speed cameras at this crossing.
The crossing is a main access route to St Peters Public School and St Peters Community Preschool; and the only access road for before and after school care services.
The undersigned petitioners therefore ask the Legislative Assembly to:
-
Install a 40km school speed zone
-
Install school zone flashing lights
-
Install traffic calming measures to indicate to motorists that a major pedestrian crossing next to a children's playground is coming up
