  • Part of the Savali Incorporated concept is that we have separated the community living (Savali Sanctuary) from the financial investment in the project.

Obviously we still need both equally and simultaneously, but having funds to invest is not a pre-requisite for moving to the community.

This also offers people the opportunity to invest in an ethical project, without the need to move to the land or be heavily (or at all) involved.

  • Our community non-negotiables

  • Our community non-negotiables apply to all residents, members, visitors and guests:

    • We do not raise animals for meat. We are not a vegetarian or vegan community, although we strive to understand the impacts that traditional animal husbandry and the consumption of meat and animal products have on the planet.
We are committed to mainly vegan community meals.
    • We make decisions together using a modified sociocratic / concensus process for decision making and strive to include the needs and concerns of every member in the solution. All member will be trained in the process.
    • As adult members, we all commit to 7-10 hours of work in the gardens and on the land each week as community service, as well as maintaining around their individual site.
    • We do not accept any form of substance abuse or addiction in our community.
Recreational use of drugs in social situations seem reasonable.
Supply and use of hard drugs (Heroin, P) will not be accepted.
    • Violence (especially domestic violence and violence against children) will not be tolerated.
    • New community members agree to provide references and a criminal records check for every country they have lived in for more than 6 months in the last 10 years.
    • Community meetings are mandatory.
It is expected that all adult members attend and participate actively in at least 75% of all community meetings.
    • Community Members commit to regular training events and workshops to educate ourselves on communication, facilitation, conflict resolution and other topics.
    • Discimination of any sort is not tolerated.
    • We strive to build a zero waste and carbon neutral community.
    • We build small homes in keeping with nature and natural world, with minimal impact in extraction, processing, transortation, construction and end of use.
    • Everything brought onto the land must comply with our existing organic certification.
  • Every community sits somewhere on the scale between a neighbourhood / village at one end and a community of total sharing of everything including finances, food, clothing and partners at the other end.

  • At Savali Sanctuary, we have several different housing options available.

    • Individual Sites: (not visible from any other site, although there would be community foot traffic and orchard work around the site) - it's a bare site, you bring everything to live off grid or there may be options to have water and power connected at your expense.

    • Tiny-Co-op Sites: living in closer proximity to others who share the Tiny Co-op kitchen and bathroom facilities, all you need to bring is a caravan or other option to sleep in.

    • Existing Dwellings: There are 3 potential options for renting the existing dwelling areas. Plans are being made to modify these, so various options may still be available
