Framework Section B 3.0
  • Section C. Is a living evidence approach justified?

  • This section help you establish whether the question (in PICO or PECO format) you has identified, warrants to setting up a living evidence synthesis. Please keep at hand the results of preliminary searches you have run for the questions of interest. (If you have more than one question, please answer this questionnaire for each question; you will be able to use it and generate a report as many times as you need).

  • Step 1. Determine whether new evidence is likely to emerge

This step seeks to establish the characteristics of publications related to the question of interest, how likely is that evidence on the outcomes of interest change in the following months.

  • If your answer to the above questions is NO consider not to setting up a living evidence process for this question.

  • Step 2. Defining how uncertain is the currently available evidence of the question

This step seeks to approach the available evidence quality or confidence. Given that we are seeking to have an approximation of how certain the available evidence is, it is not expected at this point that you or your team have completed the evaluation with GRADE, however applying the following criteria to the available evidence you have found will help you establish how uncertain the current evidence is.

  • If the certainty of evidence is high, consider NOT to setting up a living evidence process for this question.

  • Step 2. Define the relevance of the current question

Take the question you have worked on. Once you have completed the evidence synthesis and quality assessment for the outcomes of interest you are ready to define if this question remains of interest for setting up a living evidence approach by completing the following questions:

  • Step 3. Determine whether the organization has the necessary resources for a “living evidence” project

Consider factors such as working time, people and financial support.

  • SECTION SUMMARY: Based on your answers to the previous steps, you can now conclude if the question of interest does meet the desirable characteristics for conducting a “living evidence” synthesis (i.e. it is relevant problem for decision making; the evidence is likely to change in the near future; the current evidence is uncertain, the organization has the resources needed for setting up a living evidence project) If so, you are ready to plan the process by fulfilling the Section C of this framework.

Click "continue" and then "submit". A PDF document will be generated. Keep that document with the documents that support the process of this evidence synthesis.
