• NBS Quality and Standards Questionnaire

  • NetworkNature is a resource for the nature-based solutions community, creating opportunities for local, regional and international cooperation to maximise the impact and spread of nature-based solutions. NetworkNature highlights a timely topic in the nature-based solutions field with its semester themes, identified in consultation with the nature-based solutions community.

The current theme is 'Nature-based solutions and Standards' covering quality aspects; how NBS quality is measured, reported and monitored. This questionnaire is part of the several activities that will take place during the following months until September 2022.

The questionnaire will take around 15 minutes.

  • NBS Quality

As part of the NBS and Standards Semester Theme we have carried out a desk review to identify a list of potential features and characteristics of high-quality NBS. To confirm the relevance of these features and characteristics and to identify the main priorities concerning high-quality NBS, we would like to ask for your input on the below questions.

  • 2a - How important do you consider the following features and characteristics for delivering high-quality nature-based solutions on a scale from 0- 5 (where 0 is not relevant, 1 is least important, and 5 is very important)? Theme: Objectives.*

  • 2b - How important do you consider the following features and characteristics for delivering high-quality nature-based solutions on a scale from 0- 5 (where 0 is not relevant, 1 is least important, and 5 is very important)? Theme: Design.*

  • 2c - How important do you consider the following features and characteristics for delivering high-quality nature-based solutions on a scale from 0- 5 (where 0 is not relevant, 1 is least important, and 5 is very important)? Theme: Feasibility.*

  • 2d - How important do you consider the following features and characteristics for delivering high-quality nature-based solutions on a scale from 0- 5 (where 0 is not relevant, 1 is least important, and 5 is very important)? Theme: Implementation.*

  • 2e - How important do you consider the following features and characteristics for delivering high-quality nature-based solutions on a scale from 0- 5 (where 0 is not relevant, 1 is least important, and 5 is very important)? Theme: Post-Implementation.*

  • 4- NBS outcomes can also be hindered by various (intentional or unintentional) misuses. How important and relevant do you consider the following misuses on a scale from 0 to 5 (where 0 is not relevant, 1 is least important, and 5 is very important)? *

  • 6- In order to secure high-quality NBS, work is now underway in several areas to develop and introduce NBS quality standards. How important and relevant do you consider the following quality standardization approaches from 0 to 5 (where 0 is not relevant, 1 is least important, and 5 means very important)? *

  • NBS Standards

  • As part of CLEVER Cities, Tecnalia developed a standardisation component. The project has mapped the needs and demands for standardising NBS within the project as well as across other EU-funded NBS projects and recent publications, which resulted in proposals for standardisation along 5 spheres (NBS Technical Design and Implementation, Policy and Governance, NBS Planning, NBS Financing, and Economic Activities, and Communication and Awareness Raising) and 5 standardisation categories (Terminology, Process, Impact assessment, NBS architecture, and Technological).
