We offer firing services to help local potters in our community create pottery without needing to invest in a kiln.
We charge $20-30 for a bisque shelf (fired to cone 05) and $30-40 for a glaze shelf (fired to cone 6). For reference, we can fit approximately twenty 10oz mugs on one shelf. These costs are subject to change depending on the size and height of your pieces. We do not split the cost of a shelf. Please consider bringing in enough peices to cover a full shelf at a minimum.
Allow for approximately 4 weeks turnaround for your pieces to be fired. It is important to note that we prioritize firing items that were created in our studio. We fire community items only when we have space in the kiln, and therefore cannot guarantee a firing timeline. We especially cannot guarantee a firing deadline. If you require your pottery be fired by a particular date, please consider having your pottery fired elsewhere.
We are not responsible for any damaged pottery. We do our best to process your items with gentle care but as is the nature of this delicate craft, accidents can occur in and outside the kiln.
All pieces must have the same name or artist signaturemakers mark visibly inscribed. Items that have a different marking will be packed away in seperate containers.
We do not wipe the bottoms of your pieces. You must ensure there is no glaze on or near the bottoms. Damage caused by unwiped bottoms and dripping glazes may result in a charge of up to $50 per damaged shelf. Ensure you are firing the right type of clay (Cone 6 Stoneware) and applying your glazes correctly.
