• ASA 117th Annual Meeting: Bureaucracies of Displacement

    Press Policy and Registration
  • The American Sociological Association’s 2022 Annual Meeting is expected to bring together thousands of the nation’s leading sociological minds August 5-9 in Los Angeles, CA.

This year’s theme is “Bureaucracies of Displacement.” However, sessions will cover a wide range of topics. A searchable preliminary program in PDF format is available on our website.

    Eligibility

Complimentary press registration to ASA’s Annual Meeting is provided to qualified reporters who are employees of or freelancers on assignment to locally, nationally, or internationally-recognized print, broadcast, or online media outlets with a demonstrated history of reporting on relevant issues. We encourage reporters to register by July 25.

As part of the registration, journalists will be asked to provide contact information and information about the media outlet for which the individual is covering the Annual Meeting. Journalists will also be required to indicate in writing that they have read and agree to the conditions of press coverage for the Annual Meeting. ASA reserves the right to refuse press registration to any individual.

In order for us to register journalists as press attending the 2022 Annual Meeting, journalists will need to submit this form with their credentials. Acceptable credentials include an official press badge, a business card from a news media outlet, or an original copy of a masthead with the journalist’s name on it. Freelance journalists should provide a letter of assignment from a media organization or, if they intend to submit articles to media outlets for consideration after the meeting, clips of previous stories that have been published or aired on topics germane to sociology or the ASA.

    Covid-19 Protocol

ASA is committed to ensuring a meeting that is as safe as possible. Attendees, including registered media, must abide by the requirements listed on the ASA Annual Meeting COVID-19 Protocol web page. These include submitting proof of vaccination before you retrieve your badge and presenting the vaccine validation onsite. ASA is unable to provide a press badge if you do not agree to the requirements.

    Badge Collection

Once you arrive at the Los Angeles Convention Center, proceed to the Exhibitor Check In counter in the ASA registration area. A member of the Communications team will provide you with your badge after you present the vaccine validation on your mobile phone or laptop. For questions related to badge collection onsite, call Senior Communications Associate Kirsten Hilgeford at (202) 247-9854 or Web Specialist Janene Martin at (202) 247-9859.

Press access is open to sessions that are open to meeting registrants except for business meetings.
