DOG LOVER RESCUE agrees to the following:

1.) Give ADOPTER possession of DOG only if, and for so long as, all terms of this contract are complied with.
2.) Give ADOPTER copies of all veterinary records available.

1. ADOPTER agrees to a minimum $500 donation to help Dog Lover Rescue continue its mission in saving more lives in desperate need! On average, Dog Lover Rescue spends over $1,000 on each dog- some are in worse off condition than others, but all require vet care, transport and so much other work that comes into play. Dog Lover Rescue is run solely on volunteers and 100% on donations, so we are truly grateful for anything you can spare in appreciation for us saving this new angel, now entering your life. It is the only way we can then go save another homeless or injured dog in urgent need. *
2. ADOPTER agrees to keep DOG as a pet and companion, to treat DOG with respect, kindness, compassion and care as another member of the family and agrees to feed DOG quality food appropriate for his/her size and makeup, access to water at all times, as well as, provide the appropriate amount of daily exercise, safe and warm shelter at all times and to maintain DOG'S healthy weight, optimal wellness and necessary veterinary care, for DOG'S optimal health, for the duration of his/her natural life. In addition, ADOPTER agrees to adhere to all state and local animal laws. *
ADOPTER will never abuse or neglect DOG in their care, and under no circumstance physically punish Dog. This includes, but is not limited to physical striking, use of or threat of the use of objects to inflict harm. DOG will not be chained, tied up or left alone for long periods of time, nor allowed off the property of the ADOPTER unless accompanied by an adult. At no time, will ADOPTER EVER emotionally or mentally abuse Dog. *
ADOPTER is agreeing to hold, care for and provide assumed animal welfare duties for the duration of natural life for Dog. ADOPTER agrees to routine, as well as any necessary veterinary care Dog needs and is assuming all financial responsibility. Should a spay or neuter, not be performed, for any reason, prior to adoption, ADOPTER agrees to get this done within the first month (30 days). Any necessary or outstanding heartworm treatment, must also be started within 30 days or as soon as possible, if discussed with Dog Lover Rescue.*
ADOPTER agrees to never give, loan or sell DOG to any other individual, persons, parties, organizations, associations, agencies or any other entity. Should the need to rehome DOG arise, ADOPTER must notify Dog Lover Rescue, the circumstances must be discussed and agreed upon and written permission to rehome DOG must obtained from Dog Lover Rescue. *
ADOPTER agrees to adhere to all animal control codes, ordinances (local, country, and state), as well as all relevant zoning codes. ADOPTER will not permit DOG in their care to become a public nuisance. *
ADOPTER understands, acknowledges, and agrees that Dog Lover Rescue makes no guarantees, representations, warranties, or promises whatsoever, expressed or implied, written or unwritten, regarding DOG's disposition, temperament, and/or current or future health and personality. The ADOPTER agrees to take DOG as is.*
ADOPTER fully understands and agrees that there is a minimum three week, 21 day, decompression period, however recommends a full 30 days, before SLOW introduction (over the next month) and THEN, integration with children, other animals and any otherwise, higher stimulus situations, over the next several months. And that is only IF/ when Dog is determined to be able to handle and thrive in said higher stimulus situations and has had the training, foundation and tools, in preparation. Adopter agrees to honor Dog and set DOG up for success, by following recommended introduction and integration techniques, timelines and tools, including professional training, where discussed. DOG shall remain in the ADOPTER's care, at a minimum, for the full 30 day decompression period, where DOG will be given a fair opportunity to adjust and learn the home is a safe, calm and loving environment. DOG will be a different dog day 1, day 30, and day 90, given the chance to ease into a new home, new people, new sounds, smells, energies and routines, new animals and entirely new life. *
ADOPTER agrees that, if, at any time, they no longer want DOG, can no longer provide for the DOG, or comply with the terms of this contract, they will notify Dog Lover Rescue immediately, so that a new home can be secured for DOG. It is understood that while Dog Lover Rescue will work to secure a new home, ADOPTER will default to a foster and assume the responsibilities as understood and agreed to in the Foster Agreement. It is further understood that it is, in no way, predictable, how long this will take. Should ADOPTER insist on not fostering DOG until another home is secured, Dog Lover Rescue will be forced to find boarding for DOG and ADOPTER assumes responsibility for any & all costs, accordingly, until a new home is found.*
ADOPTER will keep means of identification on the DOG at all times. In the event that the DOG becomes lost, ADOPTER will begin immediate and serious effort to locate and claim the lost dog, including, but not limited to, posting pictures and bulletins to social media pages, locally and throughout county or state and notifying authorities. Services and professionals that assist in or specialize in the search and rescue of dogs (IE: Buddha Dog Search and Recivery/ Facebook) will be sought, should DOG not be found in 48 hours. ADOPTER will retrieve dog immediately after being notified that dog is being held at a shelter, agency, institution, by an individual or has been found and is waiting in a home. ADOPTER will also notify DOG LOVER RESCUE immediately so that, hopefully, we can help!*
ADOPTER will not, under any circumstances, breed the DOG. ADOPTER UNDERSTANDS the severe and horrific realities of the breeding industry and hopefully, pledges to never support a breeder or puppy mill, again! *
ADOPTER agrees not to alter in any way shape or form the appearance or physical abilities of the DOG. This includes declawing, cropping of ears or tails, debarking or harmfully dyeing dog's hair.*
ADOPTER agrees to never engage DOG in ANY training, sport or any activity that encourages or induces aggression, fear or trauma, whatsoever. *
ADOPTER agrees to use positive reinforcement in any training and never physically hit, threaten DOG, nor mentally or emotionally abuse DOG, whatsoever. *
9. While most dogs are spayed and neutered before adoption, should DOG not be fixed prior to adoption, ADOPTER agrees to have DOG fixed within 30 days, or as agreed upon by DOG LOVER RESCUE. ADOPTER agrees to provide digital record and certificate to DOG LOVER RESCUE within 48 hours of surgery. *
10. ADOPTER agrees that DOG will reside inside ADOPTER'S home and will never be crated for more than 8 hours in a day, and only in a crate that is large enough for DOG to stand, circle, stretch, move around and comfortably lie down.*
11. ADOPTER agrees that DOG will never be left in an outdoor kennel, tethered, chained or alone in a fenced yard or outside while ADOPTER is not home.*
12. ADOPTER agrees DOG will NEVER ride in the back of a truck, be left in a car unattended or left alone in any situation which could pose a danger to DOG or other animals or humans. *
13. ADOPTER agrees to keep DOG under ADOPTER'S control and supervision and assumes all responsibility for DOG.*
14. ADOPTER agrees to update DOG LOVER RESCUE, should any changes to contact information arise, including name change, cell phone, email and address. *
15. ADOPTER agrees that during DOG’S lifetime, DOG LOVER RESCUE may visit the home where DOG resides and/or request updates on DOG. If DOG is not being adequately cared for, or ADOPTER has not complied with any provision of this contract, DOG will be removed from ADOPTER'S possession by DOG LOVER RESCUE. ADOPTER will be responsible for any veterinary, boarding or training fees incurred by DOG LOVER RESCUE in restoring DOG’S health and mental wellness and rehoming DOG. *
Should it become necessary to take action to recover the adopted DOG or otherwise enforce the provisions of the contract agreement, the undersigned ADOPTER will be responsible for all costs, including but not limited to, court costs and attorney fees representing either the ADOPTER and DOG LOVER RESCUE. *
ADOPTER agrees to pay Dog Lover Rescue the sum of $1,000.00 as liquidated damages in the event that ADOPTER breaches any of the terms in this agreement. Payment of liquidated damages does not bar DOG LOVER RESCUE from requiring the return of animal of seeking payment of further damages. *
17. ADOPTER agrees that if DOG is found running at large or is brought into any place of holding, for any reason, ADOPTER authorizes any agency to release DOG back to DOG LOVER RESCUE, hereby designated as Agent for the ADOPTER. *
ADOPTER acknowledges that DOG is being adopted "as is" and that no implied or expressed warranties have been made by DOG LOVER RESCUE in reference to the health, training and/or temperament of DOG. ADOPTER assumes responsibility for all costs and fees associated with DOG and upholding DOG’S optimal health and wellness for the duration of his/her natural life. *
ADOPTER agrees to not hold DOG LOVER RESCUE liable for any conditions or actions by DOG, foreseeable or unforeseeable, and assumes all responsibility as the ADOPTER of DOG.*
ADOPTER hereby assumes all responsibility for DOG and agrees to hold DOG LOVER RESCUE harmless from any and all liability resulting from DOG, including, but not limited to any injury or damage that may be caused by DOG to any human, animal or property. *
ADOPTER agrees to not bring legal action seeking any remedy against DOG LOVER RESCUE in connection with this agreement or in connection with personal injuries or property damage claimed to result from any act or omission by DOG LOVER RESCUE, whether by ADOPTER or any third party.*
ADOPTER agrees to pay all necessary costs to enforce this agreement, including attorney's fees, costs of litigation, Pet Recovery fees and any medical bills. *
ADOPTER agrees that at no time will DOG ever be euthanized, unless of urgent medical necessity, in which, there are NO other options, chance of recovery or quality of life. DOG LOVER RESCUE will always do whatever it can to save a life, so should any ADOPTER require assistance, DOG LOVER RESCUE insists, ADOPTER reach out to DOG LOVER RESCUE to discuss all veterinary, financial or other needs. *
ADOPTER agrees to begin training either right away or right after the decompression period has finished- whichever was decided between parties that would be best for DOG. All dogs deserve to learn and feel trust, confidence and commitment in their new home with their new family, as soon as possible. This foundation is imperative to their success and they deserve nothing less! If you are not signing up with a Dog Lover Rescue partner trainer, please name the trainer below. BY SIGNING BELOW, ADOPTER CERTIFIES THAT THEY UNDERSTAND THE REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITY IN CARING FOR DOG. ADOPTER UNDERSTANDS THAT EVERY ANIMAL IS AN INDIVIDUAL AND WILL NEED TO BE CARED FOR AND RESPECTED AS AN INDIVIDUAL. ALL ANIMALS NEEDS, BEHAVIORS, ABILITIES AND CHALLENGES ARE DIFFERENT.
