Badminton Australia
Expression of Interest Form
High Performance Selectors
Badminton Australia is seeking expressions of interest from two suitable persons to express interest in taking on the role as a Selector for Badminton Australia National Falcons Programs, including Seniors Falcons and National Development Program, as well as selections for international team tournaments.
The types of people that should consider nominating are;
* recently or previously retired athletes and/or masters athletes
* prior coaches, or coaches who are not currently coaching any athletes in contention for selection
* technical officials with a broad knowledge base in the relevant sport
* others with specialist knowledge of the sport and how athletes perform
One of the two available positions is for a selection panel chair - see more specific requirements below.
Selection Panel Chair
The chair of the selectors panel requires a slightly different skill set from other selectors and ideally has experience in chairing selection meetings from a governance and procedural point of view as well as an in-depth knowledge and understanding of selection policy and processes. The Panel Chair is a "non-voting" position tasked with ensuring that the correct selection process and procedures are followed. Some considerations for the appointment of the chair will be;
- Legal or governance qualifications/experience
- Previous management experience or familiarity with chairing other bodies
- Strong communication skills
- Experience taking minutes
The Panel Chair and Selectors will be required to meet with the coaching team regularly, as required, and where possible attend National tournaments and provide report/feedback after international tournaments that national players compete in.
Submissions due by COB Thursday 25th May.
Please note that all positions are volunteer positions, and appointees must be (and remain in) good standing with their state body.
Expenses are covered where approved in advance by the CEO.
All appointees will have an induction process as part of commencement in their role.
