Meet the Experts at Brighton Music Conference

Got a question about your business and need some expert advice? We can help.

Presented by the Association for Electronic Music (AFEM) ‘Meet the Experts’ sessions will offer BMC attendees the opportunity to schedule meetings with experienced professionals in the electronic music industry to help elevate their business and get valuable one to one business advice with industry experts.

Experts will be available from different fields within the electronic music sector on Thursday 25th May from 2:00pm - 4:30pm at The Bucket and Spade Cafe, Kings Road Arches, 26-28, Brighton BN1 2LN, directly besides the British Airways i360 venue).

Each expert will have up to 4 x 15 mins slots each. To book a session please use the form below and select which expert you'd like a slot with. PLEASE only book one slot with expert that is best suited to your business, to allow as many people as possible to meet up.

**Yuri Dokter** - CEO, DJ Monitor , an expert in music rights management and technology, is the founder and CEO of DJ Monitor - a music recognition technology company that boasts ATC/Pioneer DJ as a strategic investor. DJ Monitor is responsible for monitoring venues, festivals, and streams globally and in the UK on behalf of PRS for Music and PPL. Additionally, Yuri serves as co-chair of the CMO Relations Workgroup, where he leverages his vast experience to improve the relationship between collecting societies and rights holders.

** Debbie Adebowale ** - SyncVaultDebbie Adebowale is the Director of Business Development, Music and Label Services at SyncVault, leading the global music team to drive promotional campaigns and provide income generating tools for artists and labels. With over a decade of music industry experience, she previously worked in promotions and collaborated with major labels including Universal Music Group, Atlantic Records, and XL Recordings."

** Silvia Montello** Senior music industry executive with over 30 years marketing, commercial, strategic and operational experience, gained through working at majors, independents and startups, including PolyGram/Universal, BMG, Kobalt/AWAL, Blokur, Audio Network, Association for Electronic Music and now CEO at Association of Independent Music.

** Chloe Johnson** - Chief Client Officer - Verifi Media: Music technologist and metadata expert Chloe Johnson, is the Chief Client Officer at Verifi Media, where she leads projects for the VRDA that focus on helping creators and rights holders monetise their assets through data sharing technologies. Chloe is also the founder of Estara, a consulting agency for DJs and Producers, and is co-chair of AFEM's Metadata Working Group .

**Connie Chow **Connie Chow is the Dance & Electronic lead at FUGA, having joined in February 2021 after spending 8 years as Executive Vice President at Little Empire Music. At FUGA, Connie built out the distributor's Dance & Electronic division, and has acquired and worked with prominent labels including Hospital Records, STMPD, Hexagon, and Dim Mak. She achieved significant success with multiple campaigns, including Martin Garrix's album campaign, 'Sentio', which secured all 52 global NMF playlists on release and resulted in over 55 million streams. Connie also led the campaign for Hardwell's comeback album, 'REVELS NEVER DIE', achieving #1 placement and cover image on Spotify's MINT.

**Clara Suess - Owner, Suess Media ** Clara Suess set up the PR Agency Suess Media in 2014, to focus on her love of electronic music. Suess Media promotes dance music releases for a variety of different labels – from majors to underground – and secures strong profile building coverage for international artists and rising talent. Clara also has a specific interest in helping to promote female artists. Suess Media’s current and recent roster includes work for Faithless, Matthias Meyer, Konstantin Sibold, Matisa, Tim Green, Budakid, Theo Kottis, DASCO, Eluize, Just Her, Tony y Not, Joyce Muniz, Axel Boy, Steve Mill, Ross Harper and across label releases for Strictly Rhythm, Selador, Bedrock, Watergate Records, Permanent Vacation, Anjunadeep, Optimo Music, RAM Records, Skint Records, Athens of the North, Krunk Kulture, NewState, On Loop, Siamese, BMG, Columbia Records, amongst others.

**Leigh Morgan - Global Director b:electronic (Believe) ** Leigh Morgan is the Global Director of b:electronic, the Label & Artist distribution division for electronic music at Believe. With over 12 years of experience at Believe, Leigh previously led their global editorial & marketing partnerships team before taking charge of b:electronic. Prior to joining Believe, Leigh worked with renowned record labels, the dance physical distributor Amato, and contributed to Beatport. He specializes in distribution for dance & electronic labels and artists, showcasing his expertise in the field.

** Neil Bainbridge, Neighbourhood ** Founder of PR, brand & creative communications agency Neighbourhood, Neil has over 23+ years music industry experience with a deep rage of expertise especially relating to PR and multi-discipline marketing. He has provided representation at a global level to independent and major record labels, high profile artists and consultation to organisations of varied sizes, while managing the publicity of Grammy and award-winning musicians as well as emerging acts. As an AFEM Board member Neil is dedicated to creating a thriving business and cultural environment with improvement in best practices of all aspects of our industry. Neil is also an experienced event promotor.

** Heiko Hoffman - Vice President, Global Artist Services - Beatport Group ** Heiko Hoffmann is Vice President of global artist services at the Beatport Group. Prior to that he’s been editor-in-chief of Groove magazine, an industry-leading electronic music magazine, for many years. He has curated an exhibition, book and compilation series on the history of Berlin club culture called “No Photos on the Dance Floor!”. Heiko is also an adjunct professor at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at New York University and has been a key-note speaker, moderator and panelist at conventions and festivals such as ADE, Sonar and IMS.

**Ruben Planting: Sales Manager - Deepgrooves** Working as a Senior Sales Manager at the Greenest Vinyl Pressing Plant in the world named Deepgrooves located in The Netherlands. We specialise in bespoke premium and high quality vinyl pressings in the most sustainable way. Next to that my experience lies in the field of manufacturing, label management, A&R, program and event management. Currently running multiple dance orientated labels and having been making programs for multiple clubs and festivals in The Netherlands all electronic music based.

**Jules O'Riordan (AKA Judge Jules)** has over 30 years of experience across the entire spectrum of the music industry and is a partner at Sound Advice solicitors, a respected London-based firm specialising in all aspects of music law. Jules’s clients include artists, management companies, record labels, song writers, event promoters, producers, music tech businesses, production companies, live agents, music publishers and DJs. Jules’s industry experience includes nearly a decade as an A&R for the Universal umbrella of labels, 15 years as a presenter on BBC Radio 1, over 150 record releases and remixes in his own capacity as a recording artist, plus a 30 year career as one of Britain’s best-known globally-travelled DJs, with over 5000 gigs under his belt, plus extensive experience as an event promoter and artist manager at the highest level.
