    City of Greensboro Creek Week Events

  • Guilford Creek Week will take place during June 4-11th. Please register below for the events hosted by the City of Greensboro.

    Event Descriptions:

    • Community Adopt-a-Stream at Barber Park (June 4th, 8-10 am): Free. For ages 10 and up. Have an hour or two? Grab a friend and join Water Resources for a community pop-up creek cleanup. Buckets, trash bags, gloves, and grabbers will be provided.
    • Stream Science on North Buffalo Creek (June 4th, 10-11 am): In this event led by Dr. Sarah Praskievicz (a river scientist at UNCG), we'll learn how streams are affected by urban development, explore some of the urban stream research being done by Dr. Praskievicz and her students, and get a chance to take some stream measurements.
    • Drain Marker Program at Garden Homes and Westwood Neighborhoods (June 5th, 2-4 pm): Free. For ages 10 and up. Want to help protect our aquatic ecosystems? Grab a friend and join Water Resources for a community drain marker pop-up program to add or replace broken or missing drain markers to storm drains. All volunteers will have to watch a short training video and complete a waiver before work can begin. We will provide caddies, scrapers, markers, and caulk.
