• Perspectives 2023: Potters Prospectus & Application

  • The Perspectives: Georgia Pottery Invitational is an annual exhibition and pottery sale held late August through mid-September each year in Watkinsville Georgia by the Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation (OCAF). It features current practicing Georgia potters.

Artists will exhibit 2-3 artworks for a gallery show and provide inventory for a larger sales hall (average 90 artworks per potter). Please note OCAF receives a 40% commission on all sales.

    Who is Eligible?

    1. All Georgia potters are welcome to submit images and résumés.
    2. The potter must have been actively producing pottery in the state of Georgia for a minimum of 12 months prior the application deadline (October 1st the year before the exhibition).
    3. Full-time students and interns are not eligible.
    4. The potter should have a record of producing functional and/or decorative pottery on a consistent basis for the past 3 years and with stated plans to continue producing pottery for the foreseeable future.
    5. The potter must have demonstrated in the past 3 years the ability and capacity to produce a relatively consistent quality and quantity of pots, so as to ensure supplying sufficient inventory for the sale. This may require restocking inventory during the period of the sale. The average inventory per potter in previous sales was in excess of 90 pots. Potters agreeing to participate are expected to give appropriate priority in producing quality and quantity inventory.
    6. If the potter is producing other types of artwork, the production of pottery must be their primary output.
    7. The potter should be a private studio potter, a member in a public or private pottery studio, a member of a pottery cooperative, or an educator with an ongoing contract.
    8. The pottery produced by the candidate should be of sufficient design and construction quality for the items to sell to the general public without difficulty.
    9. Pottery produced by the candidate should meet or exceed the minimum industry safety, design, and construction standards as practiced by recognized professional potters.
    10. Partners or families who collaborate in producing a single line of pottery are permitted to submit a single application, résumé, and set of images for consideration as a team. Partners or family members who make dissimilar work are required to submit separate applications, résumés, and images for individual consideration.
    11. IMAGE PREPARATION: Select 12 digital images that show a variety of sizes and types of your current work. Digital images must be a minimum resolution of 72 dpi. These images will be used for jurying and also marketing purposes if you are selected.
    12. Potters must submit a current résumé with their images. We suggest preparing your résumé before beginning the submission process. Keep your résumé as brief and current as possible.

If you fit the above ground rules and you are prepared to submit your application, please continue to the next section. We look forward to seeing your pottery!
