Criteria for this award is as follows:
- Captain is a current member of the USTA organization in good standing.
- Captain must have captained more than one team within the championship season.
- Captain may have captained or mentored new captains on teams they were not eligible to play for, such as different gender, NTRP level, or age eligibility.
- Captain has never had a league grievance filed against them as a captain or a player, nor included in any league grievances filed against them and a league grievance was upheld.
- Captain is open to adding new players on their team and works well with the League Coordinator to place new players in the program.
- Captain may recruit new players on their team each year even without the help of league coordinators.
Other factors to consider:
1) Efforts to recruit new players or organizations to support the League Tennis Program
2) Promotion of the League Tennis Program (with special consideration to those working on multiple NTRP levels and divisions of play)
3) Organizational and team management skills
4) Active participation
5) Tenure of captaining teams, number of teams captained and players affected
6) Additional Volunteer efforts at local or Section level
Notes
1) A CAPTAIN WITH ANY ACTIVE GRIEVANCES WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED
(in addition, numerous past grievances or a track record of past grievances will not be considered)
2) Past success in league program CAN be a factor, but the point of the award is to recognize captains supporting their community league program, not just winning league championships
3) No employees of the organization, either district or section, whose job description includes growing leagues or administration of any leagues, are eligible for this award.
