Cost and Commitment Inventory
Jesus taught us to “count the cost” (Luke 16:25-35) to determine if we have what it takes to complete the commitments we are about to make. To participate in the Connection Point Freedom to Forgive training involves a cost on your part (though it promises many benefits). Please prayerfully weight these costs.
Sermon Series Time Commitment
The Freedom to Forgive series is five weeks long. We will gather during our normal Sunday morning worship times of 9:30 and 11:00 AM. Consistent attendance is vital, so it will be necessary for you to be in attendance each week. You will be able to watch the service online if you are not able to be live in person, but you must watch the sermon by end of the day on Tuesday following the sermon preached. It is essential that you have time to process and complete the take-home work before attending or watching the next sermon in the series.
Weekday Time Commitment
You can expect to commit to the following time outside of Sunday morning worship:
- Complete the survey questionnaire before the first sermon. This should take no longer than 5-10 minutes.
- One hour per week completing the take home worksheet. This will consist of sermon reflection, Scripture reading, worship time, journaling, and prayer time. You are expected to begin this on the Monday following the sermon preached (no later than Wednesday).
- Complete the survey questionnaire after the sermon series and take-home work has been completed. This should take no longer than 5-10 minutes and must be done within two-weeks of the final sermon preached.
- Complete the evaluation form after the sermon series and take-home work has been completed. This should take no longer that 5-10 minutes.
Application Time Commitment
You are expected to apply what we learn and the healing God does in you after the sermon series and take-home work is completed. This time commitment will be different for everyone; however, we are each expected to take the time to not only continue the process of healing our hurts but also take the time to offer forgiveness to those who have hurt us.
Your Personal Commitment Form
As you consider whether you can commit to participating in this sermon series, we would ask you to evaluate yourself carefully, prayerfully, and honestly. Are you able to attend worship service each week? Can you make it five-weeks in a row? If not, will you have time by end of day Tuesday to watch the sermon online? Will you be able to spend an hour each week for five weeks examining areas of your heart and life where you have unforgiveness? Etc.
If, after carefully counting the cost, you decide that you want to participate, then the next steps in your process will be to:
- Sign and date this Personal Commitment Form.
- Complete the Pre-Assessment at connectionpoint.tv/freedom.
- Submit these two forms online by Sunday, June 5.
My Commitment to Freedom to Forgive Sermon Series
I have carefully read all the information. Having weighed the benefits and costs, I am willing to commit myself to fulfilling all my commitments. Therefore, I would ask you to include me in the sermon series project.
