Essentials of Drypoint on Plexiglass
Instructor - Kate Baillies
1 Day Workshop
July 10th, 2022
10:00am - 4:00pm
Why draw and etch on metal when you can use Plexiglas? In this workshop, Kate will guide you through drypoint techniques using Plexiglas to explore drawing and printmaking. As this intaglio method is “additive”, drawing on Plexi can create a very delicate image or rich overlay of incised marks, translating into a velvety printed surface. This workshop will provide experienced printmakers with an opportunity to explore mark-making from a playful vantage point. There will be lots of time to ask questions and explore qualities to use in developing an intaglio print.
The instructor will cover:
- Preparation and properties of Plexiglas plates
- Image development process
- Use of a variety of hand and power tools for mark making
- Inking and wiping of plates to bring out unique qualities in the drypoint image
- Printing on our Studio presses
