  • Pilot Program~Fencing Adaptive Inclusive SPRING -

  • Image field 330
  • Therapeutic Benifits

    - The physical benefits of fencing include increased coordination, agility, balance, flexibility, strength, and cardiovascular endurance

    - Fencing is a sport involving quick thinking, agility, poise and speed. It also develops discipline, respect, maturity and good sportsmanship, qualities that carry through to our everyday lives.

    - Fencers learn to solve problems, cope with adversity and take what comes with grace.

    Wheelchair Fencing -

How Is It The Same As Traditional Fencing?

Wheelchair fencing is the same as traditional fencing in several ways. First, the uniforms worn for protection are typically the same. You still need to protect all the same body parts! Also, the sport requires quick reflexes and agility. An electronic signal box is connected to the athlete to detect when a touch happens. And finally, the actual fencing equipment used is the same.

    What Are The Differences?

Wheelchair fencers are not allowed to move. The chairs are anchored to the ground, and if any movement occurs, the duel is paused until that competitor is secured again. In traditional Olympic fencing, the first competitor to give fifteen touches wins, but in wheelchair fencing, the number is reduced to five. There are different categories of fencers for the Paralympics. The Paralympic Committee assigns each competitor a score based on his or her abilities, and that is what determines which category they compete in.

Come Out and Try the Sport on February 1st, 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm. The Camp PossAbilities program for differing abilities will be on Thursdays from 4:00 pm -5:30 pm. February 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th, March 7th.

  • The Benefits of Beep Baseball are that it offers an incredible opportunity for those with partial vision, visual impairments, or blindness to participate in America's pastime and reap the various mental and physical benefits of playing. In addition to the cardiovascular advantages of running and fielding, players rely entirely on their ability to hear and feel for the ball. Over time, this helps those who play regularly enhance their sensory reflexes as they become familiar with the game's dynamics. Winning and losing together, working with coaches, and pleasing fans contribute to mental and social well-being.
