Peer Writing & Speaking Consultant Application Logo
  • NOTE: We are accepting applications for Fall 2025. All interviews will be initiated in late summer or early fall. Thank you for your interest!

Job Description: Undergraduate and graduate students who are academically successful and interested in working collaboratively with other students should consider applying for this position. Peer consultants are trained to provide either (1] writing support, (2) speaking support, (3) or both to other students through a peer-tutoring model. Writing and speaking consultants represent the FIT Writing and Speaking Studio in tutorial sessions, outreach visits, and in both online and face-to-face interactions with other members of the FIT academic community. Peer consultants should be interested in learning about the peer-tutoring model, collaboration, writing and speaking for both academic and non-academic purposes, and technology and other business related issues that will contribute to the success of the day-to-day operations of the Writing and Speaking Studio. Participation in ongoing staff education and meetings is required. Opportunities for leadership, scholarship, and workplace experience are available.

Note: We encourage applicants to wait until they have been on campus for at least one full semester before they apply. This time allows students to get to know FIT, better understand the workload for their areas of study, and do some writing and speaking that could then be used for application samples. Also, it is important that students take this time to connect with professors who may then agree to serve as references. Additionally, please note that due to the time it takes to interview, hire, and train, the Studio cannot consider applications from students who have less than two semesters remaining at FIT.

Note on AI: All input to this form must be generated exclusively by the applicant. No part of the application materials should have been generated by AI or created with assistance from AI.
