    ATTENDANCE:

1-Arrive 5 minutes before the start of class. You may stretch or sit in the sitting area.

Ideally, absences should be notified 24 hours in advance; inform the Shifu of your absence at least a couple of hours before the start of class. Please do not call Jing Shifu during class times. Failure to notify your absence is disrespectful to the Shifu and the other students.

Freedom Kung fu reserves the right to reduce the number of weekly classes if not enough students are signed up and/or attending.

  • Best Practices for Black Belt Parents

  • .     We strongly encourage parents to leave the room and drop in occasionally. You are required to keep quiet in class if you are staying to observe. Observing a martial arts class is similar to watching your child in regular school because there is only one person in charge—the instructor. Unless the teacher specifically asks you to, refrain from interrupting or interacting with your child or other students; doing so is disrespectful to the teacher and distracting to all of the students.

    2.     Please remain in the sitting area. Dirty shoes are not allowed on the mats. Only students and instructors are permitted on the mats.

    3.     Please bring something quiet to do in class to avoid disrupting the class. Younger siblings must be kept quiet and under control to avoid distractions. Turn down your cell phone’s volume and exit the room if you need to make a phone call.

    4.     Children must be dropped off on time and picked up promptly. Freedom Kung fu LLC is not a daycare center.

    5.     Because each child is unique, they will develop at their own pace. On the basis of the student's skill levels, the instructor does not always correct every movement.  Encourage your child’s progress and set realistic goals for them. Learning forms and earning certificates are only a small part of the big picture.

    6.     Strike a balance between rules and fun; while it's necessary for kids to learn rules and discipline, over-reinforcing rules for kids who have trouble paying attention and following them can make learning boring and uninteresting.

    7.     Differentiate between actions that are truly unsafe and actions that are characterized as unsafe for rule compliance. Please restrain from redirecting children in the class. Even if aware of non-compliant behavior, the instructor may decide not to redirect that child at that moment.

    8.     Your kid has enrolled in a group class. Depending on the workout, students might need to wait in line for a while, especially while learning new drills. Occasionally, children may conduct themselves inappropriately or become disengaged while waiting. As students grow, focus and discipline will also get better. You can enroll in private classes if you think the class is overcrowded.

    9.     Avoid confrontations with the instructor, other parents, and judges at tournaments. Our goal is to teach sportsmanship.

    10.  Please inform the instructor of absences in advance or at least before the beginning of class.
