2022 James B. Hawkins Good Neighbor Scholarship Application

The Gallatin Chamber Foundation is the Gallatin Area Chamber of Commerce’s 501(c)3 component that exists to encourage, promote, and support innovative enhancement projects and creative initiatives within the City of Gallatin.

Annually, the Gallatin Chamber Foundation funds innovative education programs in Gallatin K-12 schools through the Innovation and Enhancement Awards. Since 2014, the Gallatin Chamber Foundation has presented over $75,000 to Gallatin schools. In 2020, the Gallatin Chamber Foundation expanded its awards to include scholarships for graduating seniors, to honor the late Jim Hawkins, a champion for education and the Gallatin area.

The James B. Hawkins Good Neighbor Scholarship is available to seniors at Gallatin High School and Station Camp High School who exemplify the traits of a good citizen.
This award recognizes and rewards individuals who possess the qualities of integrity, leadership, service, and good moral character in their school and community. These students are nominated by their own teachers, counselors, and peers because they exemplify the qualities of a good citizen.

The following are required:
- Evidence of community service above and beyond those required hours for graduation, club, or activity affiliation
- One letter of recommendation from a faculty member
- One letter of recommendation from someone other than a faculty or family member.
- A grade point average of 3.0 or higher
- A personal interview with the Chamber Foundation’s Scholarship Committee (at the discretion of the committee)
- Submission of a complete scholarship application form and essay
- Proof of commitment to a college, university, or a technical school
