Drainage problems can impact property owners in different ways.  In order to find solutions, it is important for the Borough to understand the issue and how it impacts you.  To this end, videos during an event are some of the best information we can review to evaluate the problem.  If videos are not available, photos are very useful.  This form will allow you to upload photos and videos.

First and foremost, high intensity rainfall events are inherently dangerous due to high winds, rising water levels and lightening.  DO NOT PUT YOURSELF OR ANYONE ELSE IN DANGER WHILE TAKING VIDEOS OR PHOTOS.  The most useful videos and photos provide a perspective on the problem.  Close ups may show a detail, however wider views are very important.  A video that shows the area of immediate concern and continues upstream as much as is reasonable is very helpful.  A series of photos can accomplish the same thing with a much smaller upload.

Once your issue has been evaluated, the Borough will determine if the problem is related to a short term maintenance issue, a recent failure of a stormwater facility or a long term maintenance/improvement project.  Depending on the type of issue, we will make an effort to provide a reasonable time frame to address the issue.

Drainage Tips

1. Please be sure your roof leaders drain away from the foundation of your house.

2. Do not divert storm water (drainage ditches, roof leaders, sump pumps, etc.) directly onto your neighbor's property.

3. Do not dump vegetative waste into storm drains in the street or drainage ditches on your property.

4. Do not blow leaves, branches, and grass into the road. This material can easily block storm drains in the street and lead to flooding.

5 If you have a storm basin in front or near your home, please help and remove the leaves, branches etc. from the openings
