EXCELLENCE IN BUSINESS AWARD (3 Categories): SMALL (No more than 10 employees), MEDIUM (11 to 60 employees) & LARGE (61 or More Employees): Recognizes businesses demonstrating overall excellence, stability, a positive public image, and setting an example of community service.
JOHN ANDERSON AWARD: recognizes a company, organization, group, or individual who have/has enriched the County through an outstanding contribution to the community. (One of our most prestigious award – usually given to long-serving organizations/individuals.)
VOLUNTEER(s) OF THE YEAR: recognizes a resident (or group) of the Bedford County region of any age who personify(ies) the finest spirit of volunteerism by giving generously of themselves to improve the community and our quality of life.
INDIVIDUAL EXCELLENCE AWARD: recognizes a person or business that has demonstrated outstanding achievement through a noteworthy accomplishment. This honor celebrates excellence in areas such as innovation, creative arts,marketing/promotions, or other forward-thinking initiatives that have made a meaningful impact on their industry and/or community. Recipients exemplify vision, creativity, and a commitment to going above and beyond in their field
PROPERTY IMPROVEMENT AWARD: recognizes a business which has significantly improved the appearance and/or of its facility through renovation, landscaping, redecorating, etc. for the betterment of its operations, employees, and/or the community.
HERITAGE PRESERVATION AWARD: recognizes the business or organization which has shown a significant commitment to preserving the heritage of Bedford County region. This can be widely interpreted – i.e. preservation of a place or building, an activity or process, or historical information, archives, etc. Outside-the-box applications welcomed.
EMPLOYER COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD: recognizes the business which has actively supported employee participation in volunteer activities that improve the community, and/or sponsors/encourages employee participation in non-profit efforts and volunteerism.
EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION: recognizes a business or organization for their efforts in enriching children, adults and/or the community through learning. For example: heritage awareness, creative arts, workforce development/career exploration, etc. Not necessarily intended for traditional teaching roles (i.e. school district employees unless they are developing non-traditional programs), but rather for businesses/organizations that put effort into educational endeavors
EXCELLENCE IN AGRI-BUSINESS: recognizes a farm or agriculture-related business in the Bedford County region which demonstrates outstanding stewardship of land and livestock, application of technology and/or innovative marketing and civic involvement. Outside-the-box applications welcomed and encouraged – does NOT need to be a farm.
