    LASTING IMPRESSIONS: A/P 2022 MEMBERS' EXHIBITION

    WHAT IS LASTING IMPRESSIONS?

    This year A/P is thrilled to showcase our broad community of A/P members through LASTING IMPRESSIONS, which we will host in our Main Exhibition Space from August 20 - September 23.


    Through this exhibition, we aim to: 

    • Welcome new members, and welcome back past and existing members as we return to in-person gallery programming
    • Foster community through an inclusive group exhibition
    • Connect our broad community of local and global artists while showcasing the breadth and depth of printmaking 
    • Promote sales that will support individual artists while raising funds to sustain A/P operations and programming (*artworks do not need to be available for sale to participate)


    WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

    This opportunity is FREE (no participation fees!) and open to CURRENT A/P MEMBERS who work in print-based media, from anywhere around the globe. 

    ALL experience levels are welcome, and anyone can become a member! 

    Members are welcome to submit ONE current or past artwork that incorporates print-based media with a paper size no larger than 11"x15" (see the next page for full artwork details).

     

    ABOUT A/P MEMBERSHIP

    Membership comes with many exciting advantages including: access to the studio rental program; receiving monthly e-newsletters; the ability to vote at our annual general meetings; and invitations to participate in members’ exhibitions, print exchanges, and professional development programming.

    All members also receive 20% of at Inglewood Art Supplies (A/P’s generous local studio sponsor). 

     

    EXHIBITION DETAILS

    LASTING IMPRESSIONS will be on display in the A/P Main Gallery from August 20 - September 23, 2022, and will be open to the public during gallery hours. 

    A/P will promote this exhibition through a small run of print promotions, through our media and community networks, and online through our website, e-newsletter, and social media channels.

    An opening reception and celebration will be held on August 20 from 2-4pm.

    Artworks may be available for sale throughout the exhibition (based on each artist’s preference). 

  • PARTICIPANT REGISTRATION AND AGREEMENT

  • Please read the following carefully.

    All steps must be followed and completed to ensure your participation.

    After you complete and submit this form, you will receive an automatic response email that includes all of this information for your reference.

    If you do not receive an automatic response email, you must reach out to A/P via phone or email to ensure that we have received your participation form, which is required for you to take part in the exhibition. 

     

    HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?

    This exhibition is non-juried. A/P will accept all submissions that adhere to the artwork guidelines, and submission steps outlined below.

     

    ARTWORK GUIDELINES

    Each participant may submit ONE printed work that adheres to the following artwork details.

    Size:

    The total size of the work may be UP TO BUT NOT EXCEED 11”x 15”.  

    Three-dimensional works that have two of their dimensions within 11” x 15” may be considered on an individual basis. Please contact A/P in advance to inquire.

    Media:

    ALL forms of PRINT-MEDIA are welcome including lithography, intaglio, relief, screenprint, monotype, and other expanded and mixed media practices in printmaking.

    Presentation:

    1. Work must be Work must be submitted UNFRAMED and UNMATTED as it will be hung with magnets. 

    For works that are not on paper, we will do our best to accommodate other installation requirements. Please contact A/P in advance to inquire.  

    2. When submitting artwork to A/P, it must be fully dry and placed between a rigid card or backing, and it must be clearly labeled with the artist's name.  

    Theme/Subject Matter: 

    There is no theme for this exhibition and members are welcome to submit current or past work of any theme or subject matter.*

    *However, A/P reserves the right to exclude any work that promotes violence, hatred, or intolerance. 

     

    SUBMISSION STEPS

    To participate, each of the following steps must be completed in full. 

    PART 1: Ensure Your Membership is up to Date

    1. Participants must be a current member of A/P. 

    Regular memberships are $30CAD/year and student memberships are $10CAD/year. 

    Memberships may be purchased directly through this form, through A/P's website, or in person.

    PART 2: Complete and Submit this Participation Form - DEADLINE  JULY 17

    2. Each participant must complete and submit this form to confirm their involvement no later than July 17, 2022.

     

    PART 3: Complete and Submit Your Artwork Information Form - DEADLINE AUGUST 2

    3. After submitting your Particpation Form (Step 2), you will receive an automated response with a link to your Artwork Information Form. This second form must be submitted electronically no later than August 2, 2022. 

    This form will require you to provide: 

    a. Your artwork information (title, medium, substrate)

    b. An image of your work that we may use in promotional materials

    A/P will be using your submitted image, as well as documentation of your work in the exhibition to promote the exhibition, and to promote A/P.  This may include current and future online or print promotions. A/P will make every reasonable effort to ensure that the artist is credited. By signing and submitting this registration form, you permit A/P to use images of your submitted artwork for these purposes.

    c. The artwork's sale price and whether you choose for the artwork to be listed for sale through A/P during the exhibition, or if you choose for it to be listed as NFS (not for sale).

    Note: disclosure of the sale price is required for all submissions for insurance purposes 

    ARTWORK SALES DETAILS:

    If the artist chooses for their work to be for sale, it will be listed at the sale price specified by the artist.


    All sales will be processed through A/P, with A/P receiving a sales commission of 40% of the sale price. 


    A/P will pay the artist their 60% artist commission portion within 30 days of the close of the exhibition.

     

    PART 4: Ensuring artworks are RECEIVED by A/P - DEADLINE AUGUST 10

    All prints will need to be fully dry and placed between a rigid card or backing, and clearly labeled with the artist's name. 

    4.a) MAILED ARTWORK MUST:

    •  ARRIVE at A/P no later than August 10, 2022.

    •  Be addressed to: P.O. Box 6821 Station D, Calgary, AB T2P 2E7.

    •  Arrive in packaging that can be reused to return the work to the artist after the exhibition. 

    •  Include a PAID return shipping label.

    Mailed submissions that are not sold during the exhibition will be mailed back with the packaging and shipping label provided in October.

    Artwork that arrives via mail without a pre-paid shipping label will not be returned.

    A/P is not responsible for prints that are damaged or lost in transport.

    4.b) HAND-DELIVERED ARTWORK MUST:

    • Be brought to A/P within the following times when volunteers will be there to collect the work: 

    August 6, 2022 from 11am - 3pm

    OR

    August 10, 2022 from 3pm - 7pm

    Picking up unsold prints after the exhibition:

    All hand-delivered artwork that were not sold during the exhibition must be picked up from A/P after the exhibition closes within the following hours when volunteers will be there to process their return:

    September 28, 2022 from 3pm - 7pm

    OR

    October 1, 2022 from 11am - 3pm
