• AWHS Community Based Project Grants

The American Women’s Hospitals Service (AHWS) is a pioneering organization whose mission is to fund care for the medically underserved with special interest in programs that meet the needs of women and children. Its secondary mission is the advancement of women in the medical profession as physicians and ancillary health workers. The AWHS mobilizes the skills and experience of its clinical and non-clinical members to work within the greater global community to provide service, education and solidarity across neighborhoods and international borders. We are devoted to fostering sustainable and innovative programs that will inspire individuals and make a difference for communities in need. In support of our mission, the AWHS Community-Based Project Grants provide funding for expenses up to$500 for medical students, residents, and physicians demonstrating commitment to a project aimed at helping a community in need. Projects must focus on one or more AHWS funding priorities: empowerment or advancement of women; improving health care access for underserved populations; and quality improvement of services in rural and/or urban underserved areas. Funds are distributed three times annually (application deadlines: January 5, May 5, and September 5).AWHS requires a $10 processing fee for all applications.
