Boat Storage and Usage Rules:
a) The racks shall be used solely for personal storage of kayaks, paddleboards, or canoes, and related accessories, such as paddles or life vests.
b) Paddles and oars may be stored on your rack and must be secured with your boat. All other related accessories must fit inside the boat or removed.
c) No other use is allowed, including but not limited to, business usage.
d) No subletting or assignment of boat or rack space is allowed.
e) Renter must comply with all maritime rules for safe boating, especially use of proper life vests.
f) Storage racks are for boats only and related accessories only (paddles, vests, etc.). No other personal property may be stored without permission.
g) Your boat(s) must be stored in a manner that does not interfere with other storage rack users or the general public.
h) The boat must be contained wholly within the chosen rack and must not impede access to other boats.
i) Area around the storage rack must be kept clean and orderly.
j) Renters shall not alter the slips, rack or fixtures.
k) Boats found in violation of our policies may be removed by MPD staff. Fees for removal and storage may be assessed.
Security, Loss, Damage
a) The security of boat and equipment is the sole responsibility of the boat owner.
b) MPD is not responsible for damaged, stolen, or lost boats and equipment.
c) Renter must provide their own locking devices and secure BOTH the front and the rear of the craft to the rack to prevent it from becoming loose during high winds or tides. If the craft becomes loose, damage to other watercraft could be considered the liability of the renter who failed to have the craft secured at both ends.
d) MPD accepts no liability for damage to, or security of, Renter’s property.
e) We reserve the right to remove a lock at MPD’s discretion. We will attempt to contact the permittee before and after removing the lock. If we cannot reach the permitee by phone or email, we will mail notice to the address on file after removing the lock.
f) Any damage or theft should be reported to MPD immediately.
Rental Term Expiration
a) Boats must be removed by 5:00pm on November 11. Boats and accessories not removed by said date shall be removed by the MPD. A minimum service charge of $50 plus storage fees will be required for property owners to reclaim their boat and accessories.
b) Property not claimed within 60 days will be considered abandoned and may be sold, discarded, or donated at MPD’s discretion.
c) All applicants must reapply each year, with priority given to people waitlisted the previous year. Rental space is not ongoing from season to season.
e) **SPECIAL NOTICE**
(1) Boats and accessories still on the racks or bulkheads after said expiration date may be impounded. A minimum service charge of $50 plus storage fees will be required for property owners to reclaim their boat and accessories.
(2) Property not claimed within 60 days will be considered abandoned and may be sold, discarded, or donated at MPD’s discretion.
