Leah's Pantry invites CFHL staff to a training opportunity facilitated by Shakti Rising, a leader in community wellbeing programs that prioritize health, safety, diversity, sustainability, and cultural responsiveness
Working in community organizations during times of uncertainty and chaos is inherently challenging, especially in the time of COVID-19. Over time, the buildup of stress in the nervous system can inhibit your body's natural ability to heal and restore, which can make you more susceptible to secondary trauma and compassion fatigue. This training will teach you "emergency room care for emotions", while also equipping you to share this knowledge with those you serve.
Understand the concept of cumulative stress and how to complete the stress response.
Apply nervous system regulation practices to revitalize your mental and physical well being.
Learn workplace mindfulness and resilience skills to improve focus and productivity while reducing stress levels and creating positive structural changes in the brain.
Work together to create a common language for peer support during the working hours and beyond to foster healthy systems for self-care and resilience.
This training includes two 2-hour Zoom webinars (see schedule below - attendance at both sessions is required). Once registered, participants will receive a welcome email in early September with access to the Zoom sessions.
Note: This training is for CFHL funded staff only and registration is capped at 50 participants; however, the training will be offered again in the future.
