    Welcome to the 2022 Member Proxy. Members who complete the proxy by July 29, 2022 will be entered to win the California Waterfowl Decoy of the Year. This brant decoy is a high-quality replica of the original award-winning decoy carved by Jerry Harris. The proxy has six candidates and one opportunity to participate. Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete this important item. Notice is hereby given that a Membership Meeting of the California Waterfowl Association will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2022, at the CWA headquarters, 1346 Blue Oaks Blvd., Roseville, 95678, for the purpose of electing directors and conducting such other business as may come before the membership. The California Waterfowl Bylaws require a minimum number of members present or proxies to constitute a quorum. Members who are unable to attend the meeting are requested to vote by proxy. This proxy will not be used if you attend the meeting and vote in person.

  • Dan Connelly

    Dan has been active in the waterfowl and related habitat world for over 50 years. Starting with the US Fish and Wildlife service, then California Department of Fish and Game, Ducks Unlimited, Cortopassi Family Foundation, Tuscany Research Institute, Pheasants Forever and CWA. His career has involved virtually every aspect of waterfowl management from research, regulations, legislation, habitat management, and fund securement. Waterfowl is not just his vocation but is also his avocation having hunted on four continents. Dan is a CWA Gold Benefactor.
  • Gemma Dalena

    Gemma lives in Fresno and, along with her parents andsiblings, runs her family’s fully-integrated farming operation, a laborcontracting company and multiple related businesses. She earned her bachelor’sdegree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo as well asa Master’s in Agricultural Science. When she was five, her dad took her on herfirst duck hunt and she was hooked. By the age of nine, she was hunting theGrasslands refuges with her brothers and has been a hunting enthusiast eversince. Gemma is a California Waterfowl Life Member.
  • Andrew Foraker

    Andrew Foraker is a lifelong waterfowler who has huntedpublic and private lands across California; primarily flooded rice fields inthe Northern Sacramento Valley. He earned his Bachelor of Science from CornellUniversity in Applied Economics & Management, and currently works as anagricultural lender at Farm Credit West in Yuba City.Andrew is a CWA Life Donor and has been a member of CWA forover 25 years. In fact, he participated in the inaugural class of the CWAhunter education program. Andrew lives in Davis with his wife and two children.His passion for California waterfowl hunting has always included a strongcommitment to CWA, a tradition he is eager to pass on to his children.
  • William “Bill” LaFayette

    Bill is California native and has been an avid duck huntersince that first hunt with his father at the Ramona Hunt Club near Hemet, CA.50 years later he has hunted almost every refuge in the state but today huntsprimarily in the Grasslands, Butte Sink and with his father at the RamonaHe earned a degree in accounting from the University ofSouthern California and recently retired as the Chief Financial Officer of anAsia focused private equity fund of funds. He lives in Walnut Creek with hiswife of 22 years and two daughters.Bill is a CWA Gold Benefactor and is passionate aboutintroducing others to the wonders of the duck blind.
  • Aslam Malik

    Aslam Malik lives in El Dorado County and is an avidwaterfowl hunter. He has hunted waterfowl on almost every refuge in theSacramento Valley and on private clubs for over 40 years. Aslam has a Ph.D inChemistry and serves as the Chief Executive Officer of SK pharmteco, a global,pharmaceutical fine chemical company. He brings excellent business &leadership skills and ability to solve challenging problems. He is passionateabout waterfowl conservation and is currently a California Waterfowl BronzeBenefactor.
  • Morgan Read

    Read Investments develops, owns, and operates retail, multifamily, and industrial assets throughout Northern California, Oregon, andWashington.  The firm dates back to 1946when Jim Read founded Grocery Outlet, Read Investments continues to be a familyowned and operated business.Morgan oversees all aspects of the business including:acquisitions, development, capital structure, and operations.  He is responsible for developing and implementingthe company’s on-going strategic plan. Prior to joining Read Investments, Morgan worked at Goldman Sachs &Co.Morgan is the former State Director for the InternationalCouncil of Shopping Centers and former President of the University of VirginiaBenefactors Society Board.  He is amember of the Young Presidents Organization, The Nature Conservancy LeadershipCouncil, and the Fisher Center Policy Advisory Board.  Morgan is a licensed Real Estate Broker inthe state of California.A 6th generation Northern Californian, Morgan is passionateabout waterfowl and wetland habitat in our state.  He manages a ranch and hunts in District 10and is also a member of a small club in the North Grasslands.Morgan is a CWA Emerald Benefactor.
