  • Please Note: If you plan on introducing your foster animal to a resident animal, this must be done VERY slowly. Please ensure you ask us for details on how best to go about this.

    DO NOT ever put them together straight away and expect they will get along as this often does not work.

  • By sending this electronically, I acknowledge that I have completely read this questionnaire and comprehend it fully. I understand that applying does not ensure approval and that untruthful answers or failure to comply with the requirements of this application can result in the forfeiture of any Boorloo Animal Sanctuary animal fostered by me. I certify that the above information is correct, and I understand that the information will be verified. I understand that by submitting this form electronically, I agree to release and covenant to hold harmless Boorloo Animal Sanctuary and it's members from any claims, damages, costs, or actions incurred because of the care or actions of the foster animal. I accept full responsibility for the animal(s) actions at all times, and release Boorloo Animal Sanctuary from any liabilities or damages that may be incurred because of fostering such animal(s). I agree to have Boorloo Animal Sanctuary complete reference call checks and conduct a home visit inspection if needed to be able to approve my foster application. I agree that if I'm unable to foster the animal(s) anymore that I will return the animal(s) to Boorloo Animal Sanctuary and try to give Boorloo Animal Sanctuary a 2 week period to try and find another suitable foster for the animal(s).

  • FOSTER CARE AGREEMENT

  • UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN BOTH PARTIES

  • 2. My services are provided strictly in a voluntary capacity as a volunteer, and without any express or implied promise of salary, compensation or other payment of any kind whatsoever. Boorloo Animal Sanctuary reserves the right to reject any application without reason. 

    3. As a volunteer my services are furnished without any benefits, including workers compensation accrual in any form, holiday or sick leave.

    4. As per the mandated ‘The Directions’ introduced by the WA State Government in October 2021, I agree that acceptance to the Foster Care program is on the provision I supply a current vaccination certificate, and failure to comply will result in my application not proceeding to acceptance into the program.

    5. I understand that Boorloo Animal Sanctuary may terminate my services as a volunteer foster carer at any time at its discretion and I will immediately return any foster animal that is in my care at the time and/or any items or equipment that belong to Boorloo Animal Sanctuary within 7 days of termination 

    6. I will notify Boorloo Animal Sanctuary within 7 days of any change to my personal details recorded in this application.

    7. I agree to contact the Boorloo Animal Sanctuary should my foster animal be experiencing any difficulties including settling in.

    8. I understand that Boorloo Animal Sanctuary cannot guaranteeor be held responsible for the temperament, behaviour or health of any foster animal that comes into my care, and I am aware that foster animals may cause injury or damage to personal property, other pets and humans. I understand that Boorloo Animal Sanctuary cannot be held responsible for any such injuries and/or damage incurred due to my activities as a foster carer.

  • RETURN OF ANIMAL

  • 8. I acknowledge that any foster animal in my care remains the exclusive property of Boorloo Animal Sanctuary and I will return the foster animal to Boorloo Animal Sanctuary immediately upon request.

    9. If during the fostering period I feel an animal in my care is unsuitable for any reason, I will contact Boorloo Animal Sanctuary to arrange the return of the animal  to Boorloo Animal Sanctuary.

  • CONDITIONS OF CARE

  • 10. I agree to accept a foster animal into my care until they are adopted or returned to Boorloo Animal Sanctuary

    11. I will keep my foster animal securely housed at all times while in my care and will not allow it to go outside unless in a fully enclosed run, which has been approved by foster staff prior to use. 

    12. I agree to maintain my foster animals environment in a clean and hygienic state.

    13. I agree not to take any other foster pets (short or long term) into my home during the time I am actively fostering for Boorloo Animal Sanctuary without the prior approval of Boorloo Animal Sanctuary.

    14. I understand that Boorloo Animal Sanctuary may before or during fostering inspect the property on which an animal is housed to ensure the health, safety and security of any foster animal in my care and that as a result of this inspection I may be requested by Boorloo Animal Sanctuary to return the foster animal. I agree to return the foster animal if I am requested to do so / agree to make suitable changes. 

    15. I agree to continue with any medical treatment including food trails and behavioural plans of an animal in my care as instructed by Boorloo Animal Sanctuary. Prior approval will need to be granted before taking foster cats to any external vet. 

    16. I agree to take the foster animal to all scheduled veterinary appointments at the designated veterinary clinic. 

    17. I agree to contact Boorloo Animal Sanctuary to make a vet appointment should my foster animal be sick/injured.

    18. I agree to only feed my foster animal food that has been supplied or recommended by Boorloo Animal Sanctuary and I will contact Boorloo Animal Sanctuary should I have any concerns regarding my foster animals eating habits.

     

  • COSTS

  • 19. I understand that Boorloo Animal Sanctuary will provide the basics for my foster animal in the way of food, bowls, litter trays and medications but not litter or transport. Should I incur any additional financial expenses while fostering an animal for Boorloo Animal Sanctuary, I am personally responsible for such expenses unless otherwise agreed to in writing. 

  • REGULAR CONTACT

  • 20. I agree to make regular weekly or fortnightly contact with Boorloo Animal Sanctuary to provide an update on the well-being of any foster cat in my care. Failure to reply in a tinept manner to contact attempts by Boorloo Animal Sanctuary will result in termination of contract. 

    21. I agree to contact Boorloo Animal Sanctuary IMMEDIATELY if the foster animal in my care is sick, injured or lost.

    22. I agree that in the unlikely event that my foster animal escapes and goes missing, it is my responsibility to do everything reasonably possible to find the animal. e.g; trapping, letterbox drops and notify neighbours. 

  • ADOPTION ENQUIRIES

  • 23. I understand that I may be required to provide good quality photographs and a profile for my foster animal to Boorloo Animal Sanctuary for inclusion on its website, facebook page, other social and print media and promotional material.

    24. I understand that should Boorloo Animal Sanctuary receive an adoption enquiry about a foster animal in my care, I will be contacted by Boorloo Animal Sanctuary.

    25. I agree to make contact with any potential adopter as soon as reasonably possible, and at least within 48 hours of receiving their details, to organise a mutually suitable time and date for the potential adopter to meet my foster animal.

    26. I agree to actively participate in the meeting by: (a) Providing the potential adopter with relevant information about the foster animal's temperament and health. (b) Instructing the potential adopter about the adoption process should they wish to proceed with adoption. (c) Not allowing any adopter to take a foster animal without having a Boorloo Animal Sanctuary representative present to complete the adoption paperwork and associated payment.

    27. I understand that should I wish to adopt a foster animal in my care, I am subject to the same terms and conditions as a member of the public adopter and it will be at the discretion of Boorloo Animal Sanctuary to decide whether it is appropriate to proceed with the adoption. I accept that until the adoption has been officially finalised, the foster animal remains the property of Boorloo Animal Sanctuary

  • RELEASE AND DISCHARGE

  • 28. On behalf of myself, and my heirs' personal representatives and assigns, I hereby release and discharge, indemnify and hold harmless Boorloo Animal Sanctuary and its directors, officers, employees and agents from any and all claims, causes of action and demands of any nature, whether known or unknown, costs, expenses and damages, arising out of or in connection with my volunteer activities.

  • DECLARATION

  • 29. By signing below, I hereby accept a position as a volunteer foster carer for Boorloo Animal Sanctuary upon the above terms, conditions and understandings.

    30. I hereby acknowledge the above terms and conditions and agree to abide by them during the entire time I am fostering animals for Boorloo Animal Sanctuary.

    31. I also acknowledge that this Agreement, combined with any previously signed Foster Carer Application forms, forms the basis of my relationship with Boorloo Animal Sanctuary in a volunteer capacity.
