Miigwech for your interest in the Georgian Bay Anishinaabek Youth (GBAY).
We are welcoming expressions of interest from Indigenous youth to join the team as volunteers of the Advisory.
Expressions of Interest are being accepted until November 28, 2023.
About GBAY and What’s Involved
The Georgian Bay Anishinaabek Youth was established in 2018. GBAY aims to support Indigenous youth ages 13-29 throughout the Eastern shores of Georgian Bay.
Anishinaabek philosophy of cultural/land-based education is the foundation of GBAY. Through mentorship and capacity building, the goal of GBAY is to create safe spaces for Indigenous youth to build strong community and cultural connections.
GBAY is accepting applications for Indigenous youth ages 13-29, as volunteers who are part of the Advisory and Membership Circles and are committed to GBAY's vision and goals.
Advisory Circle:
- Maximum of 6 volunteer Advisory Circle members.
- Time commitment is estimated at 2-5 hours per month
- Term: One year, renewable
Advisory Circle members will oversee and guide the GBAY's organizational and project activities. Advisory Circle members with specific roles and responsibilities can expect to spend 2 – 5 hours per month on campaigns, projects, and events. This may include, but is not limited to: research, planning/coordinating, creating social media content, networking, community outreach, and etc.
In light of reciprocity, Advisory Circle members will be invited to participate in capacity-building opportunities and will be prioritized for program activities and events.
