The Bridge: Developmental PreK Program
Developmental Pre-School - What is it?
Developmental Preschool provides inclusive preschool classrooms with support and services for both age-appropriate children, as well as those children who have been identified as having special education needs. Designed for Kindergarten Readiness, with a maximum of 6 children per classroom, this program follows the annual school calendar with breaks established for calendar and summer durations.
Social & Emotional Learning Introduction
Evidence-based research shows that early interventions promote stronger learning patterns that may help learners on their educational track. Children follow a foundational curriculum introducing reading and math components.
Students will participate in a variety of activities in foundational skills that may include:
- Language Arts / Reading / Writing
- Math
- Science
- Social Skills

What does this mean?
We are not a licensed daycare and are unable to serve students who wear diapers, pull-ups, or are not yet fully toilet-trained. Therefore, children must be able to accomplish feeding and toileting independently.
This program adheres to the guidelines of our K-12 model regarding the independent use of self-feeding and self-toileting.
The K-12 model, what does this mean?
Some students may exhibit tantrums throughout the day, for which we are unable to serve in our environment. A tantrum and a meltdown are not the same.
What is the difference?
Tantrums are behavior-driven and often seek the attention of a person or an audience. Exhibiting an action for attention, disruption, or rage may be considered a tantrum. Tantrums are most often accompanied by screaming, shouting, kicking, spitting, or causing explosive reactions that could result in physical harm to someone else.
Meltdowns are an overload of emotions (sensory-related), where crying may be exhibited, and anxiety or stressful situations may cause an increased level of emotions. Meltdowns are usually unrelated to physical aggression or violent behavior. Often, a change in routine can trigger a meltdown, which is not uncommon for students of all ages, including those with specific diagnoses.
Academic Components taught in our program:
Creative Curriculum is the selected PreK program model that will be taught. Depending on academic awareness, we can increase academic offerings of Reading and Math dynamics in the classroom to get your child ready for Kindergarten and 1st grade.
What do you mean, "depending on the student"?
Every child is different, and children learn at various stages academically; therefore, Creative Curriculum offers the Georgia State Standards in PreK classrooms.
This program is an Early Intervention Program, not Kindergarten. Academically, if students have mastered the basic units beyond Creative Curriculum, students will be challenged with number sense, foundational sight words, and reading content that equates to Kindergarten readiness.
