Aftercare
Please take a moment to read through my tattoo aftercare instructions.
Please take note that proper aftercare is crucial for the healing process of the tattoo and is the responsibility of the client. Infections can occur in the case of improper aftercare.
After the tattoo session, I will apply a clear saniderm bandage over your tattoo. Please leave the bandage on for 2-3 days unless it has peeled off by itself. If you find that you experience rash, skin irritation or any symptoms of allergic reactions to the plaster, please remove it immediately. Do not be alarmed if you notice some fluids gathering under the bandage, it is excess ink and your body producing plasma naturally.
To remove the bandage, gently peel the bandage off while running it under warm water. Rinse the tattoo gently (no scrubbing!) with a non-fragrant soap and water to clean away the build-up of excess ink and plasma. Gently pat the area dry with a clean paper towel.
Afterwards, you may apply a thin layer of non-fragrant and alcohol-free moisturiser or tattoo aftercare cream onto the tattoo. You may reapply the moisturiser/cream whenever you feel that your tattoo is dry for the following days (particularly the first week of healing).
For the following 14 days, please avoid swimming, hot tubs, sun-exposure and extreme activities that would cause prolonged sweating. Please also avoid tight clothing that would stick or rub against the healing tattoo after the saniderm bandage as been removed. These are to avoid infections while the tattoo is still healing!
Most tattoos should heal in 6 weeks, depending on the design, placement and size of the tattoo. However, many of the pieces I do involve packing of colours which means a larger area of trauma on the skin and therefore might take longer to heal as compared to simple line tattoos. If the tattoo was done near a joint or anywhere that flexes (eg wrist, knee, ankle etc where the skin stretches a lot), it may also take longer to heal as the skin is constantly moving.
Please keep in mind that the healing time and process largely depends on each person's body.
After the tattoo is fully healed, you should still try to keep it moisturised and protected from the sun with sunblock (only after it's healed!) as much as possible.
