  • Live Auditions

  • A live round of auditions will take place during Term 3, Week 9 (Tuesday 20 & Thursday 22 September 2022), where possible we will endeavour to take into account your preferred availability as indicated below. We will be in touch with all applicants once audition times have been scheduled.

We strongly recommend that all applicants attend the live audition, however, if you are unable to attend please contact Kim Smout on kim.smout@adelaidefestivalcentre.com.au to discuss an alternative option.

Our course Accompanist will be present during auditions, however, you are welcome to accompany yourself or bring along your own accompanist (at your own expense). If you would like to use our course accompanist, please bring a copy of your sheet music with piano part for them and ensure you mark your music cuts (songs should be a maximum of 2 minutes long).

    Please prepare:

    • Either two contrasting songs (maximum 2 minutes each)
    • Or one 2min song and one 2min variety act (you could dance, rap, do stand-up comedy, recite poetry, clown, or perform magic or a monologue)

The two pieces should be performed off-by-heart for the panel at the live auditions and should be contrasting, in that they have a different feel, genre or reflect different sides of your personality or interests.

More audition preparation details are available on our website.

*It is advised that students select songs with strong storytelling content, that either:

    • Connects to a world event or social issue that is important/interesting to you
    • Inspires you
    • Explores a passion or interest of yours
    • Reflects an aspect of yourself
    • Showcases an ideal or value of your generation and/or community

Please note, to allow time to discuss repertoire choice and share additional performing arts skills during the audition, the audition panel may not need to see both pieces or may stop applicants part way through their sets to test directability.

  • Applications close: 5pm, Monday 5 September 2022.

Applicants will be contacted to confirm audition times by COB Friday 9 September 2022
