Candidates shall be nominated by two duly qualified electors of the Salt Spring Island Fire Protection District.

- is a Canadian citizen
- is 18 years of age or older
- has resided in BC for at least six months before general voting day
- is an owner of land in the Salt Spring Island Fire Protection District
- is entitled to be registered as a voter, persuant to the provisions of the Letters Patent incorporating the SSIFPD
