Exotic pets require specialized care and may not be a good fit for everyone. All of the animals at Lokai Rose are rescues, and many of them arrived at Lokai Rose with illnesses and injuries due to neglect and/or abandonment. Lokai Rose is committed to making sure that all of the rescues that come into our care are adopted into safe, well prepared forever homes. The questions on this adoption application are specifically designed to help Lokai Rose determine each potential adopter's level of experience, pet ownership intentions, and adoption preparedness. Please answer all of the questions with as much detail as possible, as missing or overly vague answers may disqualify your application.

Lokai Rose is more than happy to help first-time (and experienced) exotic pet owners adequately prepare for their prospective rescue. However, in some cases, experience with certain species is required. Regardless, it is important that all potential adoptees do their own updated research before applying. If you are unsure of where to begin with your research or need reputable sources, please don't hesitate to email us at lokairosenj@gmail.com. It is best to do as much research as possible before filling out this application so you are better prepared to answer all of the questions.

1. Complete this Adoption Application in full.

2. Virtual house check (if you opt to complete this step after submitting the adoption application, email all photos and videos to lokairosenj@gmail.com). We just need a photo or video of the area(s) in your home where you will be setting up your animals' enclosure.

3. Your application and virtual house check will be reviewed by our team, and we will reach out to you whether you are approved or denied to proceed with the adoption process. Please allow Lokai Rose 5-10 business days to review your application.

4. If you are approved, it is time for a meet & greet with your potential new rescue to make sure that you are comfortable with them and that they will be a good fit in your home.

5. You must have a proper setup approved by Lokai Rose before the animal can be taken home. If you are an approved adoptor and have completed your meet & greet, we will continue caring for the adoptee until your setup is ready in full. Photo and video evidence of the setup are required.

5. There is an adoption fee associated with each animal to help cover veterinary and care expenses. Form of payment can be arranged with Lokai Rose and the adoption fee must be paid before the animal can be taken home. You will also be required to sign an adoption contract that you can view here.

6. Adopted animals can either be dropped off or picked up on adoption day depending on each situation. Please note that we will not ship animals under any circumstance.

7. Enjoy life with your new rescue! And never hesitate to reach out to Lokai Rose with any questions or concerns. We also welcome photo and video updates days, weeks, months, and years after adoption! :)

Please note that Lokai Rose reserves the right to decline the adoption of any animal(s) in our care if we find that the adoptor has misled our organization or is not complying with our required standard of care for the animal. An approved application does not guarantee adoption - only a signed contract by both Lokai Rose and the adoptor does.
