Thank you for participating in the Building Industry Design & Construction Awards (BIDCA) program! For more than 30 years, BIA Hawaii has held an annual building and design competition. Formerly the Renaissance Competition, the Building Industry Design and Construction Awards (BIDCA) spotlights hundreds of commercial and residential projects throughout the State of Hawaii. Together with the National Kitchen & Bath Association Aloha Chapter (NKBA), this prestigious annual award program is once again prepared to recognize excellence in quality construction and design of new and remodel projects.

BIDCA honors the best of the best in home building, design, and construction in Hawaii. Entrants have more than 45 opportunities to be recognized for excellence in building, design, remodeling, staging, landscaping, and more.

We're roaring back in style! Entries will be accepted beginning July 14, 2022 and awards will be given at the 20s Glamour Themed BIDCA Gala on November 10, 2022.

Pricing is calculated as follows: multiply below rate by number of category/divisions entered. $100 is added to each entry beginning August 1. All applications and supporting documents are due no later than Monday, September 16, 2022.

Remove all logos, names, and titles from your plans, photos, description and other documents. In honor of true competition, submittals reflecting identity require disqualification of the total project without refund.

NKBA KITCHEN & BATH CRITERIA
First, second, and third place, as well as highest technical, will be awarded. Judging will be based on the following: Safety & Ergonomics, Principles of Design, Design Planning, Creativity, and Presentation. Entrants for kitchen and bath projects must be the designer on record for the project and the project must be installed no more than three years prior to submission. If the entrant is not the owner of the business that billed the project, the owner's approval is required. Technical scores will be assessed by the NKBA Aloha Chapter's Judge and will account for 50% of the total score. The other 50% of the score will be provided by the other competition judges. Drawings and elevations are required. See addendum for scoring requirements of NKBA.

PHOTOS & RENDERINGS*

Upload photographs in this application; up to 12 photos or renderings are accepted. Photos submitted via email, thumb drives, hard copies, or other external source will not be accepted. For remodeling projects, submit before and after photos when possible. Provide a supporting document with captions, or include captions as the "name of the photo". Do not embed photos in a PDF document- submit as a separate hi-resolution (300DPI) jpeg file. Do not include the name of your company in the photo title; judges will only preview anonymous files. Instructions:
Share a Hawaiian value as it relates to the “home” and “living” in Hawaii. Describe how your project exemplifies this value, then upload one picture of your product/service that captures this value.

Rules & Criteria:

Entries will be reviewed by BIA Hawaii staff for compliance with word count and picture quality, then submitted to the BIA Hawaii Events & Awards Committee for judging. Judging is subjective and we expect a range of content and styles of applicants; criteria will be based on clarity, narrative, reflection on Hawaiian values, originality, storytelling ability, and impact that reflects a strong voice/message for the building industry. Focus on specific, short, powerful stories or a moment in time is strongly suggested.
