The Children's Advocacy Center for North Texas (CACNT) provides services to families in Denton, Wise, and Jack counties. The CACNT is a non-profit organization that was created to minimize the trauma of child abuse victims. We are a child appropriate facility that provides comprehensive assessment and treatment services for children suspected as victims of abuse or neglect. The Advocacy Center’s specially trained multi-disciplinary team includes Law Enforcement, Child Protective Services, District Attorney’s Office staff, Juvenile Probation, medical personnel, mental health professionals, Forensic Interviewers, and Family Advocates. The Family Advocacy team is committed to guiding and educating families through each step of the investigation, prosecution and healing process. Due to limited staff availability to supervise interns, we are only accepting a limited number of applicants from accredited Social Work programs (graduate and undergraduate). This internship requires availability Tuesday-Friday from 8:15 AM-5 PM. Appointments may run long resulting in afterhours response. If you foresee any barriers to participating within these hours, please explain.
This internship requires stable forms of transportation as you may be expected to travel between our three offices (Denton, Lewisville, and Bridgeport) or to offsite locations (such as schools) for community outreach and training, local courthouses to view trials, for other educational opportunities. Travel to Bridgeport office (not Denton or Lewisville offices) and other offsite locations will result in mileage reimbursement. If you foresee any barriers to travel, please explain.
