Touching Hands: Hand Therapist Volunteer Application

Hand Therapist Minimum Requirements

1. Current OT/PT licensure
2. Five years experience as a therapist a. Competent in wound care management, dressing changes b. Skilled in splinting c. Must be able to work independently, be resourceful, proactive and flexible
3. Ability and willingness to teach staff and families in the pre‐operative and postoperative setting
4. Personal characteristics include comfort with patients, flexibility, cooperativeness, inventiveness, a positive attitude and demonstrate tolerance of stress under conditions of hard work and long hours. Applicant must have good communications skills and the ability to work in team environment
5. Sensitivity to cultural differences and the appropriate public relations skills
6. Preference will be given to therapists with fluency in the native language of the trip site
7. Personal recommendation (surgeon)
