PARENT/GUARDIAN ONLY - Only the Parent or Legal Guardian may complete this form for the player.

LEAGUE-AGE is what Menifee Pony uses to determine what division each child will play in. Our registration system will only allow player registration into that one specific division based on their date of birth, which will need to be confirmed by birth certificate during registration.

SPRING LEAGUE-AGE is the age that player will be exactly on April 30 of that current year.

FALL LEAGUE-AGE is the age that player will be exactly on April 30 of the following year. (see more info on Fall League-Age below)

CHANGING DIVISIONS - Parents can request their child to move up one league-age year or move down one league-age year. In the Spring season, Pony International Rules, as well as insurance liability issues, prevent us from allowing players to 'play down' in almost all cases. In the Fall season we do have more flexibility, but it does still need to be approved by the league. Additionally, there needs to be room in that division to move the child into, so the sooner the request, the better. See below for additional requirements.

IMPORTANT 2023 UPDATE

Pony International has changed it's Age Determination Date back from August 31 to April 30. This means a players 'league-age' is now four months younger. It is possible in some cases that a players new league-age puts them into a division down from what they played in their last season, meaning that is where our registration system will want to play him/her.

MPB Fall Season League-Age

FALL SEASON LEAGUE-AGE is how old they will be on exactly April 30 of the following year. This may seem strange, but it's actually very common of the Pony leagues in this area. Spring is traditionally a bit more competitive, like inclusion of All-Stars. For this reason many leagues use the fall season as a sort of 'prep' season for that following spring. This is why we use April 30 of the following year to determine League-Age in fall. This is the same for all players, so don't feel like your child is going to be the youngest in the division. We do often allow players to 'play back' in the fall, but they need to complete this form and then be approved by the league. Note that if your child does 'play back', they will in fact very likely be the oldest in that division since others in his/her age range will have moved up a level.

MOVING UP ONE DIVISION

SPRING or FALL SEASON - MPB does allow players to move up to the very next level, as long as they are within one league-age year of that level, and as long as they meet other criteria. It's often required that the player attend Mandatory Player Assessments in BOTH DIVISIONS, the one he/she is of-age for, and the one you want them to move up to. This is important because if they don't meet the skill requirements during assessments, we will need to know where to place them in the lower division. We are often able to determine their division without this double-assessment though, but all of the information below must be completed for us to adequately look into it.

SPRING SEASON - Moving down in the spring season is almost never allowed. Not only is it against Pony International rules, but there are liability concerns. MPB only allows players to 'play back' in the spring season under extreme circumstances.

MOVING DOWN IN FALL

FALL SEASON - MPB does players to 'play back' one league-age in the fall season in most circumstances. Convenience is one, as it's understandable in cases of car pooling or siblings close in age. To put together a stronger team in the lower division is not a good reason, as it only hurts that divisions competitiveness as well as your own childs developement.

League-approval is required for a player to 'play back'. In Spring, the requests are very rarely granted, usually only in the case of some form of disability, or something else that puts them at a big disadvantage. While most requests are granted (in Fall), sometimes they may be denied based on what is best for the league. Higher skilled players staying back simply for teams to win more games is not in the best interest of the league, nor those players, and will be denied.
