JOB SUMMARY
The Service Desk Attendant serves as the first point of contact for all members, guests, and visitors to Gold's Gym Newburgh and Middletown. This team member is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, managing check-ins, handling transactions, assisting with general inquiries, and creating a welcoming environment that reflects the high standards of Gold’s Gym.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet all members and guests with a warm, friendly, and professional demeanor upon entry.
- Deliver outstanding customer service and ensure every visitor feels valued and welcome.
- Follow gym policies, procedures, and service standards consistently.
- Assist members with check-ins, account troubleshooting, guest services, and general inquiries.
- Maintain a positive attitude and a professional appearance, including wearing the approved staff uniform.
- Answer incoming calls using the scripted greeting provided, and transfer calls professionally as needed.
- Manage cash and credit card drawers accurately, following proper cash-handling protocols.
- Promote and sell gym programs, services, and events knowledgeably and with enthusiasm.
- Collaborate with team members to offer feedback and suggestions for improving workflows, systems, and procedures.
- Refer membership and sales inquiries to the Member Service Advisors in a courteous and professional manner.
- Keep the Service Desk clean, organized, and clutter-free, ensuring all paperwork and materials are stored appropriately.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of gym events, programs, and promotions by reviewing management emails, attending training sessions, and reading the "Pass-on Book" at the start of each shift.
- Prepare the Service Desk for the next shift by completing end-of-shift tasks and maintaining an organized workspace.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Customer-first attitude with a genuine desire to assist others.
- Strong multitasking abilities and attention to detail.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic math skills and experience handling cash and credit card transactions.
- Ability to remain professional, patient, and courteous in a busy environment.
- Basic computer proficiency including membership management software
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to learn and follow established procedures accurately
EDUCATION AND EXPIERENCE
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous customer service, sales, or front desk experience is a plus but not required.
- On-the-job training provided.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Ability to stand and walk throughout the facility for extended periods.
- Occasional bending, reaching, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
- Work in a gym environment with varying noise levels.
- Schedule includes weekends, evenings, and some holidays.
- Part-time and full-time positions available; flexibility required.
