JOB SUMMARY
Gold's Gym Newburgh is currently seeking qualified year-round and seasonal lifeguards for our indoor lap pool. Morning, afternoon, and evening shifts are available. Lifeguards are responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all pool patrons by preventing accidents, responding to emergencies, and maintaining a clean and orderly aquatic environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor all pool activities to ensure the safety of swimmers and enforce all pool rules and regulations consistently.
- Respond immediately and appropriately to emergency situations, including water rescues and first aid administration.
- Conduct regular pool checks to ensure safe water conditions and proper facility operations.
- Maintain a vigilant watch of all pool users, avoiding distractions while on duty.
- Complete daily opening and closing procedures for the pool area, including setting up or removing safety equipment.
- Inspect safety and rescue equipment regularly to ensure functionality.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pool deck, locker rooms, and surrounding areas.
- Communicate effectively and courteously with members, guests, and management regarding safety guidelines and pool conditions.
- Attend all scheduled in-service training sessions to maintain lifeguarding skills and certifications.
- Report any incidents, maintenance issues, or supply needs to management promptly.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Strong observational skills and ability to remain alert for extended periods.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Excellent swimming ability and physical fitness.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on customer service.
- Professional, responsible, and safety-oriented demeanor.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Current certification in CPR, First Aid, and New York State Lifeguarding required.
- Previous lifeguarding experience preferred, but not required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Ability to swim proficiently and pass regular lifeguard evaluations.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical rescues as needed.
- Exposure to humid and warm pool environments.
- Schedule includes mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
- Seasonal and year-round positions available; flexibility required.
