    (Please note the course will only run with a minimum of 8 attendees, we will keep you updated after you've applied).

    This will involve 2 Saturday mornings within the course framework. The course attendance follows the Southend Borough School holiday calendar.

    The Higher Diploma in Counselling will allow students to continue to extend their knowledge and understanding of Counselling from a theoretical, practical and personal perspective.

    The course is reflective and experiential looking at practice issues as well as the application of theory to client presentations.
     
    This course is 1 year long and requires face-to-face attendance at a venue in Southend-on-Sea and completes your clinical hours for you to be able to apply for Individual membership with any of our main Professional Bodies. (providing your courses so far have followed their criteria and are recognised) You are required to attend at least 85% of the face to face course and send in all required coursework to pass. If you don't, you might be referred to the next course and possibly need to start from the beginning at additional cost.

    Course Outline - Consisting of 7 Units:

    Unit 1 – Introduction, Self-Discovery and Reflection
    (Review of Counselling Skills & theoretical knowledge, Risk Assessments, Formulations, Ethical Frameworks, Self-Discovery & Self-Reflection exercises)

    Unit 2 – Specific Presentations
    (Working with PTSD, Stress & Anxiety, Depression, OCD and Eating Disorders)

    Unit 3 – Bereavement
    (Models of loss & grief, loss in a wider context)

    Unit 4 – Addiction
    (Types of addiction, Approaches to working with addiction)

    Unit 5 – Working with Couples, Families and Groups
    (Considerations & skills when working with more than one client, 3 way contracting)

    Unit 6 – Use of Supervision and Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
    (Effective use of Supervision, the process of Supervision, ethical considerations and CPD planning)

    Unit 7 – Setting up in Private Practice and Private Practice issues

    Course work and assessment will consist of reflective journals, essay, case study and presentations.

    Payments:

    The total cost for this 1 year course is £1600.00 if paid monthly and £1500.00 if paid upfront.

    A £115.00 deposit must be paid by each applicant to secure a place on this course. Then 11 monthly payments of £135.00.

    Alternatively

    A £115.00 deposit.
    Then the total paid upfront at £1500.00 (minus your deposit). This is to be paid in full 1 week before the course starts to benefit from the £100 discount.

     

    Deposits become non refundable 1 month before the course starts. 

     

    PLEASE NOTE Should you decide to leave the course at any point, half payment (at £800.00) will be required whether the course is completed or not. If you have paid over £800.00 you will not be refunded the extra. If an authority paid on your behalf, they will not be refunded.

    'Counselling Training Hub' reserves the right to cancel this course. In such an event a full repayment of fees will be made.

    Entry Requirements:

    Entry onto the 'Higher Diploma Course' is conditional on successful interview and relevant previous study. Students must have completed Level 4 (or equivalent) Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling requiring 100 hours in placement. If students have completed all assessed elements of the Diploma with placement hours still outstanding, at least 50 hours in placement must have been completed prior to commencement on this course. Confirmation will be required.

    You will attend an informal interview with the tutors before you are offered a place. Once you have filled in this form, you will then hear from the tutors to arrange an online/face to face interview. Please note, filling in this form alone does not secure you a place on the course.

    Basic computer literacy is a requirement, this will be discussed at interview.

    Privacy:

    Your data is stored securely and confidentially and used within the guidance parameters of GDPR 2018. It will not be shared with anyone without your consent. If you are successful in your application, your tutor will invite you to join student group forums and open-source learning online to keep you updated.

    You have the right to amend any of your information that we have recorded and ask us to delete any of your personal data.

    In certain circumstances our insurance may require us to hold on to some data, and if so, you will be made aware.

    Attendance:

    Students are expected to attend every session. The Diploma will not be awarded if attendance drops below 85% unless there are extenuating circumstances, which must be agreed with the tutors.

    Rules & Boundaries:

    Be aware that there will be group rules in the learning environment. For example 'Respecting Views and Opinions'. The tutors ensure rules are adhered to in order to facilitate a safe place for each student to learn and grow.

    If students do not follow the rules (once agreed by the group) and/or behaviour is considered unacceptable, the student may be withdrawn from the course at the discretion of the tutors with no refund.

    Cancellation Policy:

    Once you have booked and paid the deposit, this is refundable up till 1 month before the course. If you want to pay in full and receive the £100.00 discount, we will contact you the week before the course 'start date' to pay the remainder if you haven't done already.
