  • Actor and Crew Expectations and Agreement

    Please read through the following agreement in detail and acknowledge receipt and agreement. If under 18, a parent or guardian must read and fill out this form.

  • Auditions

    • Actors cast in the production will be notified by phone or e-mail. Please accept or decline within 24 hours.
    • Actors must provide all conflicts at auditions. After casting, any additional conflicts should be reported directly to the director/producer.

    Membership

    • In order to be covered by insurance, all actors and crew are required to become members of Castaways and must complete their membership by the first rehearsal.
    • Membership prices vary and are in effect through the end of the season. See membership paperwork for details.

    Costumes

    • Actors may be required to provide their own shoes for the production and may be asked to help in providing other costume pieces or props as necessary.
    • Actors and crew are responsible for presenting a positive example to the community. Appropriate dress should be worn to rehearsals and in the theater space. The director will provide expectations for dress that should be followed.

    Rehearsals

    • Learning lines and lyrics, cues, music, and choreography on time is the responsibility of the actor.
    • Actors should arrive early enough to be prepared to rehearse at the scheduled start time.
    • All actors are expected to attend rehearsals for tech week and dress rehearsals.


    Shows with children

    • Each show that casts children will have a child minder.
      Children may not roam the building during rehearsals.
    • Parents of child actors must come inside and check in with the child minder to collect their actor(s).


    Production

    • Actors will be asked to participate in load-in and strike.
    • Cast and crew may not take photos or make recording of the production at any time unless explicitly asked by a member of the production team.

    Marketing, Fundraising and Volunteering

    • All cast and crew are expected to actively participate in marketing and fundraising efforts. There will be assignments and stated minimal requirements for fundraising that will be communicated to the cast and crew by the director and/or steering committee.
    • Actors and crew are expected to recruit volunteers to assist with backstage or front-of-house roles as needed.

     
    Facilities

    • No food or drink except for water is permitted in the auditorium.
    • Every precaution should be taken not to scratch or otherwise damage the stage floor.
    • We are guests in the Senior Center, and we must leave the space in the same condition as when we arrive. If the furniture is rearranged, it must be returned to the original configuration.
    • The Senior Center space is to be left free of all Castaways trash. Food is not permitted.
    • The Senior Center must be cleared after each rehearsal and performance. Nothing is to be left behind in-between shows.
    • The Senior Center space is not to be used for any purpose other than rehearsal space or as a green room.
    • The Senior Center kitchen and garden are off-limits to Castaways. There is no smoking allowed.
    • Cast and crew members are responsible for their personal belongings and any show props used for rehearsal in the Senior Center.

    Additional Expectations

    • Cast and crew should avoid any conflict of interests that might hinder their capability or willingness to fulfill their duties with Castaways (e.g. other commitments, roles in other organizations). If any potential area of conflict arises, please consult with your director or a member of the steering committee.
    • Cast and crew are expected to maintain the confidentiality of all proprietary or privileged or personal information to which they are exposed while serving as volunteers, whether this information involves members of the production volunteers, or other persons involved in the overall business of Castaways.
    • Castaways is an inclusive environment and as such there shall be no bullying or harassment of any kind.
    • All Castaways cast, crew and volunteers may be asked and required to submit to a background check, particularly for shows and positions in which children are involved.


    ** Castaways Theatre will not condone any conduct or pattern of behavior or any criminal behavior, which may or may not incur risk of injury, physical harm to self or others, or presents a substantial possibility of loss or destruction of property. This will result in the termination of the cast or crew's involvement with the production and CRT.

  • Castaways Repertory Theatre Waiver and Assumption of Risk

  • The undersigned         (participant/member) voluntarily makes and grants this Waiver and Assumption of Risk in favor of Castaways Repertory Theatre/Prince William County Parks Authority, Prince William County Arts Council (Organization) as partial consideration (in addition to monies paid to the Organization) for the opportunity to use the facilities, equipment, materials and/or other assets of the Organization; and/or to receive assistance, training, guidance, tutelage and/or instruction from the personnel of the Organization; and/or to engage in the activities, events, sports, festivities and/or gatherings sponsored by Organization; I do hereby waive and release any and all claims whether in contract or of personal injury, bodily injury, property damage, damages, losses and/or death that may arise from my aforementioned use or receipt, as I understand and recognize that there are certain risks, dangers and perils connected with such use and/or receipt, which I hereby acknowledge have been fully explained to me and which I fully understand, and which I nevertheless accept, assume and undertake after inquiry and investigation of extent, duration and completeness wholly satisfactory and acceptable to me.

  • I further agree to use my best judgment in undertaking these activities, use and/or receipt and to faithfully adhere to all safety instructions and recommendations, whether oral or written. I hereby certify that I am a competent adult or the parent/guardian of a minor for which I am assuming these risks of my own free will, being under no compulsion or duress. This Waiver and Assumption of Risk is effective from July 1, 2022, to July 31, 2023, inclusive, and may not be revoked, altered, amended, rescinded or voided without the express prior written consent of the Organization.

  • Covid 19 Assumption of Risk

  • I am aware of the contagious nature of COVID-19 by which exposure and infection may be through being near an infected person. I understand that the risk of being exposed to COVID-19 is very high even if Castaways has seen to it that preventive measures and policies are set in place. I voluntarily assume the risk of being exposed to COVID-19 in participation or in attendance to the activities and usage of facilities in which Castaways rehearses and performs. I understand that my participation or use of facilities may leave me exposed to or infected by COVID-19 anywhere, including my visit to the facilities or venues utilized by Castways.

  • I understand and fully acknowledge that by accepting this Agreement, I am waiving certain rights, including the right to recover damages, due to injuries, loss, or death.  I hereby warrant that I am at least eighteen (18) years of age, or that I am the legal guardian representing an underage member. I have read this Agreement in full and carefully understand the terms and conditions relevant hereto. I have had the opportunity to clarify anything ambiguous and have raised my questions to a representative and by which such questions were answered to my satisfaction. By signing this form, I fully understand and accept the terms and conditions hereto set forth.

  • Authorization of Release

  • I hereby irrevocably grant to the Castaways Repertory Theatre (herein CRT) and any parent, subsidiary and affiliated corporations and their respective successors, assigns, licensees, employees and agents, the right in perpetuity throughout the universe, and in all now known and hereafter existing media, and in any language, to use my name (including any fictitious names heretofore or hereafter used by me), physical likeness and/or voice in and in connection with the production, exhibition, exploitation, merchandising, advertising and promotion of CRT and/or the production entitled    . I agree that the foregoing grant includes the right to use my physical likeness in any form, including, without limitation, a photograph, picture, artistic rendering, silhouette or other reproduction by photograph, film, tape, or otherwise. I represent to the best of my knowledge that the consent of no other persons, firm corporation or labor organization is required to enable CRT to use my name, likeness and/or voice as described herein and that such use will not violate the rights of any third parties. I hereby certify and represent that I am over 18 years of age or have parental/guardian consent and have read the foregoing and fully understand the meaning and effect thereof.
